What our customers say about their holidays

    • Michelle - Verified booking

We have had a pleasant stay at chalet 468.

On arrival we were a little surprised to find the property in the centre of a row of 3 properties, as the information does not seem to mention this, nor do the pictures give this away. (Just a FYI, the walls are pretty thin, and on our last night noise from one of the neighbours went on until after 11pm, keeping our kids awake - wasn’t a party or anything like that, just loud voices and banging about). The welcome pack and information was a nice touch. The beds were fairly comfortable and space worked for us for our 5 day break. The chalet was clean and tidy, although definitely in need of some general maintenance. Nothing was urgent or adversely effected our stay, but a couple of points worth noting: the mirror in the twin bedroom had at some point clearly come loose from the backing. The backing is still on the wall but the mirror is siting on the floor. This could possibly be problematic with young children. The sink basin in the bathroom is very loose and definitely needs some attention. The location is perfect for exploring the coast and the town has enough facilities that you can stay close to the chalet also. Hemsby has a firework display every Tuesday in peak season, something we didn’t know before arrival. We were able to see the fireworks from the car parking area, which saved us fighting with the crowds to go and watch them, a bonus for sure. Our dog doesn’t care about fireworks but there were a lot of dogs about who clearly don’t feel the same, so if you plan on bringing a dog in peak season, it’s worth being aware (fireworks at 10pm on every Tuesday). Overall we enjoyed our stay.

When we arrived in the chalet we were all overwhelmed with a fusty/ mould smell that even my sons commented on.

The property pictures were very deceiving as the property was much smaller than expected with dated furniture & decor. Mainly our biggest disappointment was the cleanliness of the chalet. It hadn’t been cleaned properly after the last guests as there were visible hand marks on several of the windows, dusty surfaces, the bath & sink were still visibly dirty and the floor was filthy & stained. The bedding did not smell clean at all so much so that I had to strip all bedding and take it to a local laundrette. The owners were informed of our disgust at the state of the property & came to apologise ( it seems they are managing the cleaning themselves- I did advise they might need to get a professional in between guests!!! Compensation was offered but never followed through with. We also saw them on 2 other occasions during a walk & when the door lock stopped working. They were quick to respond & assist in fixing the door. My husband has cancer and is undergoing treatment so we were hoping for a stress ( and germ ) free stay … however I ended up spending hours cleaning ( with products I had to purchase myself) just to ensure it was disinfected enough to be safe for him during our stay. Had it not been for our young son’s excitement for the holiday we would have left…. The walls were paper thin & we were woken by the neighbours shouting at their kids when they rolled in around midnight! In a positive note the chalet is well situated within Hemsby. We had a lovely week when not in the accommodation.

Holiday park is in a good location & well maintained.

First impression on entering the chalet was the smell of damp which wasn’t great. The welcome pack was a nice addition with bread, milk, etc. this does seem to be pretty standard with privately owned accommodation. The chalet could do with a thorough clean, floors need mopping, cobwebs, bathroom needed attention, bath & floor not clean & sink loose, unsure why a cleaning cloth had been left crumpled in the corner of the bath. Rusty air freshener can, shampoo, etc. dispensers but didn’t look particularly hygienic & a used handwash, if those items are provided would be better if they didn’t look used. Rusty towel rack & bedding & towels smelt musty. Great to have an information booklet, but no mention in it that the switches for the hot water & shower are in the cupboard in the kitchen, would’ve been helpful to have hot water on arrival rather than to find out late in the evening that we had to turn it on ourselves, likewise with the shower. Hot water in the bathroom sink barely a trickle. Property does feel slightly run down, curtains hanging off, screws not fully screwed in, paintwork could do with freshening up & the general feeling of dampness wasn’t nice. Generally the chalet is lacking some TLC & was rather disappointing.

The chalet is located on a pleasant and well kept holiday park.

There are no facilities on the park, but in one way that's what made it so nice, as all the chalets appeared to be privately owned and grounds were so well kept, with lots of lovely flowers surrounding all the chalets and caravans. The location was good for our first visit to Norfolk, as in a central location which made it good for visiting different parts of the area. The chalet was basic and mostly clean and functional. Everything you needed, comfortable beds, and a lovely welcome pack. The only negatives I have were the listing advertises an outside seating area, but fails to mention it is looking directly at a hedge, and on our visit there were dog hairs on the cushions that had been placed on the bed - so I had to remove these. Although I am a dog lover, I did not think this was acceptable.

A very homey feel to the chalet.

The owners had thought of everything. There was a welcome pack, tea, home made cookies (possibly the best we've ever tasted), milk, bread, butter, eggs and even treats for the dog! There was shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the bathroom and washing up liquid in the kitchen. All beds had extra throws on them and there was more than enough towels provided for everyone. Even though we brought our own stuff with us, there was a dog bed, food and water bowls too. The owners really have made the chalet lovely and cosy. It was much better and nicer than I was expecting. We all had a great time. Thanks so much.
