What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jacqueline - Verified booking

WOW, what more can I say about Willow Cottage.

The location is excellent, although feels like in the countryside it is about 8 mins drive to Potter Heigham. The hosts greeted us on arrival and are so friendly and helpful and can suggest areas to visit nearby both for eating and to look around. There is everything in the cottage you will need to make your stay perfect. The bed is amazingly comfortable, quality bedding, curtains, towels, crockery, cutlery etc. The sofa is really comfortable, plenty of room in the shower. Great lighting throughout, including the outside area whereby you can chill and relax. Plenty of sockets, USB ports and even phone chargers. Coffee, tea, sugar and milk supplied and a lovely bottle of Prosecco too. We felt totally safe. There is lots to do in the area, from hiring a boat, shopping, fruit picking, museums, horse racing, beaches, you will not be stuck for things to do whatever the weather. We would highly recommend this cottage after our 1 week stay, don’t be put off by the low reviews - Shaun & Jac have not long finished making Willow Cottage and advertising this accommodation on Sykes. We will definitely return here. Thank you for a lovely relaxing week. XxX

      First impressions was good.

However, cooker not working after switching on the socket. Mould on bathroom ceiling (this could be rectified by using Ronseal anti mould paint, we know this as we have used it ourselves) and mould on the shower curtain(got photo's if needed). The water was only hot at certain times of the day. Cutlery and glasses had to be washed before use. Fridge was leaking because of the drain hole was blocked, which we cleared. The shelves were dirty in the fridge. Welcome pack didn't have clear information in it for emergencies, i.e. hospital, vets etc... Shower heater was temperamental it was either roasting hot or stone cold, no happy medium. Seat outside broke when sat on it. Blind in living room very heavy for a disabled person to put up. No instructions on where to get card charged as there is no Belle Aire shop that we were aware off.

Lovely properties situated in a quiet location near local amenities. The presentation of both properties is excellent the layout, decor has been done to a high standard, the equipment, utensils provided go above and beyond, along with many other extras included. It's like 'Home from Home' You walk in and everything is there ready, including tea, coffee, milk and biscuits as a welcome pack, the owners have literally thought of everything even down to a torch in the bedside cabinet! Just unpack and you're ready to go. You have to accept that these properties are on a farm, so obviously some farmyard 'smells' are in the air! We would certainly recommend and we will hopefully return to explore more of the area in the future!

On arrival and having unpacked, the first time we flushed the toilet we found that it wasn't working properly and was unusable.

The office was locked and so we called the two out of hours numbers both of which were on message service. About an hour later a very angry looking young man arrived, he marched through our houseboat without speaking to us, he proceeded to stomp in and out . Then the owner arrived and insisted that the toilet was checked that day which it clearly had not been. It wasn't really all that clean anyway. If on cleaning and flushing it would have been found faulty . When I disputed her claim the owner just rudely talked over me . We then had to pack up all our belongings and move to another houseboat.
