What our customers say about their holidays

    • Tracey - Verified booking

Lovely light and airy property; very clean with well-equipped kitchen; I would however, suggest providing a dishcloth in the kitchen to make it easier to clean down surfaces.

The welcome pack was really appreciated and a nice touch. The evenings were a little cool and as we couldn't quite figure out the heating, we would have liked to have lit a fire but there was no kindling and only 4 logs in the basket so we had to abort that idea. Also, the mirror in the first floor bedroom opposite the shower room was too high such that if you sat down at the dressing table to dry your hair you couldn't see in the mirror, The one big downside of this property, which unfortunately reflects in the score, is with regard to the small shower room on the first floor landing - there is a permanent sewage/damp smell coming from this room which was very unpleasant. We didn't want to intrude on the privacy of our friends who were occupying the top floor bedroom with en-suite shower so had to endure a rather unpleasant 5 minute daily shower in this room which wasn't great. I would also suggest ensuring the photos advertising the property are updated i.e., in the photos there is a TV in the first floor bedroom opposite the shower room but there was no TV in the room when we got there which was a little disappointing.

Please note that 2 small puddles of water keep appearing just to the left of the main entrance. As the area is fully covered this surprised us. The ceiling above is wooden and there were drops of water visible on them. The wood surface above also feels a little soft. The puddles are underneath the main bathroom so the cause could be the shower or it could be a problem with the roof. Either way, please advise the owner that this is a problem which needs dealing with as soon as possible. The only issue inside was the lounge curtains which are too long. For big footed people like me it is easy to trip up on them.

      The property was fabulous.

Beautifully presented and full of all the little luxury things you have at home: double oven, nice quality kitchenware, beautiful artwork, lovely bedding etc. the neighbours were friendly and helpful and the housekeeper was quick to reply to a text question that I had. All in all it was very welcoming. It isn't very easy to find so make sure you drive slowly into Porthcurno and look carefully on the left hand side until you see the numbers 14/15 carved on the granite blocks of a driveway. This is the shared entrance that serves 16 and 17 as well but you can't see that from this direction!

The Upper Deck is a beautiful clean, bright and fresh duplex apartment, the kitchen is well equipped (two fridges!

) and the whole open plan layout worked very well. Loved the terraced garden too. It was really handy having 3 separate bathrooms , and having the washing machine cunningly concealed in a cupboard was brilliant! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. ONE tiny point, the taxi number listed is "number unobtainable". We used Logan Rock Cars (based at Treen). We watered and tidied up the plants on the balcony, maybe something other guests might like to take on board? All in all, a great place to stay, so convenient for the bus, the beach and some lovely walks. Definitely a place to return to!

      Absolutley Fabulous.

I stay in many Sykes properties during the year and they are all fabulous. I have to say that The Watch @ Porthcurno is now my all time favourite. Such a beautiful apartment with a wonderful setting for Sea watching and Wildlife. Far bigger than it appears in the photographs....with everything you need for day to day requirements. Owners are friendly & helpful but non intrusive and are only a short distance away if needed. I went to sleep listening to the waves across the rocks and was woken by birdsong, in my opinion 100% iddylic.
