We stayed at this cottage for 2 weeks from March 31st to April 14th, 2023.
It was made available for let from June of 2022 and we booked August 2022. The location is excellent, central to many amenities and activities in the area and in a good neighbourhood. The Cottage is clean and appears to have been recently painted. The floors and carpets are in good condition. However, we arrived to find issues mentioned in previous reviews unresolved ⦠master shower not working, black rubbish and recycling bins full (the previous guests left before collection day), unkempt garden. We had a mixed experience staying here. We were a multigenerational family of 5 and, by and large, we managed but there were challenges. I am sure the owner has the best of intentions by providing large beds, but they fill the rooms and contrary to the description, makes storage an issue. We are fairly efficient packers, but we struggled to put our things away and mostly lived out of our suitcases. The master has 2 closets; box room has an open space with a rod at the end of the bed; there is a wall mounted small triangle hanger but no closet in the 2nd room. There are no dressers or drawers at all and 15 hangers to share among guests. My husband managed with his suitcase on the floor in our (the 2nd) bedroom. There was no room for another case on the floor, so I improvised and ended up using the sideboard in the living room. It is commendable that there is provision for an infant, but I do not know where you would set up the cot. I do not expect to cook the same way I do at home, but the kitchen is not as well stocked as advertised. It has a hodge podge of mostly old pots, pans, and utensils. Items that are needed include a set of knives (there is 1 dull one), a standard frypan and a casserole dish with lids, some storage containers, a coffee maker, tea towels (there was 1). The oven works on convection and grill but not the standard oven setting. There is mystery food in jars left in the pantry. With reference to previous reviews, the master shower was still not working after 2 months of complaints. We managed to connect with the owner to get a plumber in, but it needs a part and was still not repaired by the time we left although the owner messaged us to say it would be repaired the next week. Regarding the shower in the family bathroom, pressure was low on the eco setting and water too hot on the high setting to use. This house has the potential to be a great holiday let but needs some improvements. If I were the owner, I would get rid of the super-king bed (it doesnât have king bedding anyway), move the king into the master bedroom and get a double for the 2nd bedroom. Invest in 3-drawer bedside dressers for all 3 bedrooms. Install shelves in the smaller closet in the master. Replace the sideboard in the living room with a wardrobe. This would make a huge difference and be cost effective. The owner is currently abroad, and the caretaker only handles cleaning at changeover unless special arrangements are made. There is no formal provision for multi-week stays regarding towel/linen exchange (weekly?) or cleaning. Guests have to contact the caretaker and make special arrangements for that too. The caretaker is really just a cleaner⦠period. Most issues addressed to the caretaker are redirected to the owner. The owner should consider engaging a property manager with authority to deal with repairs, garden maintenance, rubbish/recycling removal etc. since the owner is not here to deal with issues and the caretaker is not doing any of this either.

Review of Our Stay at 24 Via Devana, Moria, Leicestershire Our stay at 24 Via Devana was absolutely delightful.
The house itself is lovely, with spacious bedrooms that offered plenty of comfort and room to relax. The highlight for us was the ensuite bathroom, which provided a touch of luxury and convenience. The local area has a lot to offer, making our stay even more enjoyable. Just a short walk away is a Co-op, perfect for picking up groceries and essentials. Thereâs also a charming little pub down the road where we enjoyed some cozy evenings with friendly locals. The neighborhood felt incredibly homely and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. Additionally, the house had a well-equipped kitchen, allowing us to prepare meals with ease. The living room was cozy, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The garden was a pleasant surprise, offering a nice outdoor space to relax in the mornings or evenings. However, there were a couple of minor downsides. The Wi-Fi connection was a bit spotty at times, which made it difficult to work remotely. Also, parking was a bit tight, especially during peak hours. Overall, our stay at 24 Via Devana was wonderful. The lovely house, combined with the convenient local facilities and the homely feel of the neighborhood, made for a memorable trip. We would definitely consider staying here again on our next visit to Moria.

House was good and in a nice quiet location close to shops etc.
However as mentioned by previous guests the en suite shower did not work. We followed instructions re isolation cord but only a trickle of cold water came out. At least we had the other shower over bath which wasn't a problem for us to use. The key safe was actually open when we arrived. It was stated that linen was provided but only 1 towel per person was allocated. We were able to take them from other rooms as there were just 2 of us but if a full house party is there then 1 towel is not sufficient. Garden needed attention.......tripping hazards on steps to garage......grass needing mowed and general tidy up. It would give a pleasant little garden to sit in. Also an outdoor drying area would be good especially if you have to wash your 1 towel and have it dry again for immediate use. Other little minor things needing seen to....chipped mugs....hand towel holder in en suite lying on floor. We did enjoy our stay but with these little things put right it will offer a better experience for guests.

Fantastic cottage in a brilliant location. Fairly close to the M1 so easily accessible from both the north and south. We stayed for Christmas week so decided not to sample the local pubs/places to eat but after a walk through Melbourne you would have lots of options. Only a mile walk up to the town using footpaths so again, accessible. The cottage was very comfortable for four adults and the downstairs bedroom was perfect for those not wanting to do stairs. The additional lounge upstairs was cosy and a perfect setting to open all our Christmas gifts. Jayne left us baked goodies, fresh milk and a bottle of fizz - thank you, it was a lovely treat. We have already recommended the cottage to friends and we talked about returning in the warmer months to take advantage of local walks.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage, so lovely decorated and had everything you could need.
We had planned a few things but ended up staying at the cottage the entire time. We had a cake baked on arrival, a bottle of fizz on the table and a cozy warm cottage to walk into. The courtyard is so cute with tubs of fresh herbs and a beautiful tree that lights up next to the hottub. Leading you into the kitchen and dining room. The owner has thought of pretty much everything for your stay, even Yorkshire pudding tins (always missing in ever cottage weâve been too) and shot glasses. Thereâs loads of books and games in the living room for you to use and a cute log burner to keep that cozyness going. 2 beautiful bedrooms both en-suite upstairs. Definitely gonna rebook and bring my parents for the weekend. Thanks for everything. James and Lee
