During your visit, you’ll be able to find out all about the zoo’s conservation efforts, as well as what you can do to help protect the planet and the animals living on it.
In addition to the 500 animals who called Twycross Zoo home, you’ll also find daily talks, play areas, safari cars, a Wet n’ Wild play park, a butterfly forest and multiple cafes and shops dotted throughout the park. Meaning there’s sure to be something every member of the group will love, no matter how big or small.
You can find Twycross Zoo at the following address: Twycross Zoo, East Midland Zoological Society, Burton Road, Atherstone, CV9 3PX.

Those travelling to the zoo by train should head for either Nuneaton or Atherstone stations, which are 11 and 7.5 miles away from the zoo respectively. You can catch a direct train to here from a variety of locations such as London, Leamington Spa, Leicester and Stanstead Airport. From here, the zoo is just a 15-minute taxi ride away and you’ll find a taxi rank waiting for you at the station.

There’s a direct bus service which runs from Fenny Drayton and through Atherstone before stopping at the zoo. This service only runs a few times a day though and it’s definitely worth checking out the times before you travel.

This Grade I Listed country house makes for a magnificent day out, especially if you’re interested in history. Unlike other stately homes, Calke Abbey has been left as it was found by the National Trust: paint peeling off the walls, piles of belongings strewn around the rooms. As well as the house itself, you’ll find acres of beautiful gardens and parkland here - perfect for a relaxing ramble.
Step back in time with a visit to Belvoir Castle. Featured as Windsor Castle on season 3 of The Crown, this grandiose castle looks like something out of a fairytale. Dating back to the 11th century, the castle is still home to the same family nearly 1,000 years later. Perched on top of a hill, the magical turrets and towers of the castle can be seen from miles around.
