What our customers say about their holidays

    • Simon - Verified booking

Leaving a 4-star review, really enjoyed our time here.

Great location and this is a huge static caravan with everything you could possibly need / want, including a couple of walk in wardrobes! We will definitely return, and are even considering purchasing something in the local area, it had a very positive impact on us. Whilst there was a lot of things that amazed us, I thought there were other areas of the experience that could definitely be improved upon, hence having to drop the 1-star. - I didn't feel connected to the owner whilst we were staying here. More specifically, we hadn't visited the area before and there was no local information made available about the area, or any kind of guide that had been left for us. It's always nice to have be given recommendations on what there is to do and see in the local area. A simple folder with local attractions would have been a nice touch - Or a personalised contact / email ahead of the booking. - Additionally to the above, and having spoken to a lot of the the local business owners on our trip, there is huge opportunity in affiliating with them to generate some local trade with holiday makers, and including in aforementioned "guide". The local Wheatsheaf pub is a prime example of this, something I recommend the owner to explore. Essentially, assume everybody is new to the area and this is your opportunity, as the facility owner, to give your impression and vision of Langham and the surrounding attractions. Oakham for example, is absolutely stunning and worth 1/2 - 1 full day exclusively. - Although the property is finished to a good overall condition, I think the master bed could do with a little attention. The only way I could accurately describe the experience, was like a waterbed. Any movement on one side of the bed would affect the opposite end of it, so any movement at all will disturb anybody else sharing the bed. - 4x people included on the booking, but only 3x full size towels provided. Small one, but had been overlooked. Tried to contact but phone number just rang out - No other support details were left, so we just had to accept it. - Very small one, but worth a mention - we had bin bags, but no bin carcass to put them in, so had to kind of hang it from the cupboard doors. Manageable but really there should be a bin provided. These items didn't deter us from our stay and overall we were very happy. Hope the owner takes the feedback constructively in the way that it was meant. Very minor adjustments, for what I feel will be a major gain to your guests.

So I'm going to start with the negatives: Small bedroom has a bunk bed and not the single bed as described, which as we had all adult party was not suitable and we would not have booked this property.

Instead they slept on the sofa. Both bedrooms are double beds, not one king as advertised and one is a small double. Most of the internal doors need maintenance, as they don't shut unless forced, the one separating the snug and lounge can't be closed as the latch and stop aren't aligned, which meant you couldn't watch TV in the separate rooms due to dogs constantly pushing door open. Toilet cistern in the downstairs toilet takes so long to fill that it was left unflushed most of the time. There are no knives for food preparation only a blunt paring knife and 2 bread knives. So vegetable preparation was tricky. Fridge door need connecting to cupboard door. Had to purchase logs as there was only a small amount provided in the basket and wood store was empty. We did put the brown recycling bin out by 7am as on instructions but bin was not collected although, others on road were. This meant we had to leave a large amount of recycling in kitchen, would be useful to have larger bins as they are only normal size so having the larger ones might help but if they are not collected then unfortunately owner is never going to catch up with waste. We understand this is not the owners fault. Air source heat pump, which, along with everything else, had no instructions on how to use it. Not gas central heating as advertised. Owner was very good with responding on how to use it as house was cold initially. House really needs an instruction booklet. Now on to the positives: House was clean and garden was lovely, beds were comfortable and bedding was really nice quality, house is beautifully thought out and very homely. The hot tub was amazing, although I only got out there once due to having to go and purchase a swimming costume

We were very impressed with Jasmine Cottage, it was lovely and cosy and had everything that we needed for our 3 nights away.

The living room was cosy with an open fire which we love so this was great for us, nice enclosed garden for the dog and the bedrooms were lovely, the bed was so comfy and we really liked the thin duvet covers and pillows, they were really soft to sleep in. TV with Netflix in every room was an added bonus, its very rare you get that in a place to stay, it was great. We had a welcome basket which had bread, crisps, cookies, bottle of wine, milk and butter in the fridge, you don't always get this but something I think properties should do, it just helps as you don't have to rush out to buy milk if you wanted a quick cuppa, this is a great touch!!!!! And of course the bottle of wine was great, not cheap either :) The locals I have to say in every place we visited were lovely and very helpful, we were very impressed by the service we recieved and really would make us come back again. Thank you to Jasmine cottage for a lovely 3 days away, we were even given a late check out as there were no one else going in after us, so it was great to recieve that text message, the owners did not have to do that but they did and it was very much welcomed, saves rushing around but also meant we could walk the dog before setting off home. The only one small, very small downside was how busy the main road is outside, this is no reflection on Jasmine cottage but we could not believe how busy it was, they need a 30 sign down there. But the good thing was that they had a lockable gate at the front of the property so it meant that the dog could not run out when we had to open the door. Thanks again for a great stay, we would return.

The cottage is small but cosy.

I was warm without the central heating on, and the occasional blast from the electric fire. Beautifully clean and great modern furnishing. The kitchen had everything I needed along with a pint of milk in the fridge. The bed was super comfy and clean and the bath was amazing!!! I liked having real plants around too. As other people have said, the cottage IS on a main road, which can be noisy, but only at certain times. I was able to pull up outside to unload (the kerb is dropped there), and parked a minute walk away. The picture of the bus stop was a brilliant marker when I arrived!!! The stairs in the cottage are quite steep and curl round quite sharply, so if you are a bit wobbly on your legs, it might be harder to get upstairs, but there is a solid handrail, and also a grab handle at the top to keep hold of. Overall, a really lovely stay with some good walking in the Peak District.
