What our customers say about their holidays

    • Robert - Verified booking

Nice property but let down on some things.

The first thing we had to do was open all the windows as it smelled fusty, like sweaty socks. That didn't work so we had to buy some air freshener. The downstairs toilet had been left unflushed and the kettle in the kitchen had been left half full of water. Something in the bathroom gave me an allergic reaction each time I went in but I couldn't pinpoint what - my wife was unaffected and it is usually her that is sensitive with allergies. Bed in main bedroom very comfortable but sleep disturbance due to street light opposite shining through the curtains. (We have black out curtains at home). Location in cul-de-sac is very quiet apart from the Monday morning seagulls very noisily screeching whilst attacking and emptying the food waste bins which woke us early. Single bed in front bedroom noisy when moving about. Marks on carpet in main bedroom. Not impressed with the plethora of tissue boxes with notes stuck on them saying to refill and recycle. Unhygienic to do that and perhaps only one box might have been left as they only cost 59 pence in Aldi. Property was clean, otherwise but, unnecessarily, let down by the above.

This is a fantastic place to stay and I can’t recommend it enough.

Quantock Barn is exactly as you see in the pictures - the property is huge and we loved the well-equipped open-plan kitchen and lounge area. Having all en-suite bedrooms was a lovely addition and is generally a rare find with holiday lets. Everywhere was very clean and really nicely decorated. On arrival we’d been left welcome treats of cheese, milk, fresh bread, egg and biscuits which was a really nice touch. We also enjoyed the luxury of a hot tub and loved having the four goats in the paddock opposite (they were there sporadically and were surprisingly quiet so no worries of being disturbed!) We accidentally broke a wine glass while we were there, which I reported and apologised for and Izzy (the owner) was round the next day with a replacement. She also checked the hot tub was ready to use and was generally very welcoming and friendly. The barn is secluded and peaceful, but well placed for trips to the countryside and the coast (we travelled to Sidmouth and Lyme Regis and Branscombe during our stay). All in all, a real standout place to stay.

      The property was first class!

The photos on the website do not do the property justice! For one all of the rooms are so spacious and easily could accomodate 8 persons. Great to have to have two bathrooms one with a bath and both with showers in. The living area is big and spacious and fitted the 6 of us and the dog with ease! Dining area and kitchen is also very spacious with all the utensils you need for cooking and dining. Fantastic decking area also which we used in the sun in October...... very warm abd nice to relax with a glass of wine. Also great for the dog as very enclosed and no chance of escaping. Location was good for me as I walked the dog into Dartmouth every morning - just over 1 mile downhill and obviously uphill coming back but for the non walkers you can park the car on the side of the road by Dartmouth castle to walk in. Very peaceful location and all you can hear is the birds in the morning - perfect. Will definitely be back and thank you so much.

Lovely cottage in the middle of nowhere.

A little sanctuary and so, so peaceful. The cottage was very clean and the owner always nearby if we needed anything. Nothing was too much trouble. Only feedback and certainly not a criticism but I took my parents as a gift and my Dad is a little disabled in that his legs don’t work very well. Stairs were not an issue as he’s ok if he has something to hold on to so no problem there. It was just the seating in the living room as very low so he had trouble getting out of it. As I said, certainly not a criticism but something you don’t know until you are there. Beautifully designed house. Very minimalistic which we loved. In the middle of acres of farm which you have the freedom to walk around. There are chickens (we loved the fresh eggs!!!), sheep, cows and a bull. The stars at night are fabulous. I would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage.

This is an extremely well equipped property.

A lot of thought has gone into the furnishings and the kitchen utensils. All the extra things I usually bring with me were not required as it is all there - extra toilet rolls, washing up and clothes tablets, baking foil etc. The accommodation is all on one level and beautifully appointed, the kitchen has enough cupboard space with a big fridge and freezer. Plenty of room for our very large dog to spread out and the field around the property was perfect for her to explore whilst we enjoyed the hot tub. The location was ideal for our day trips out to all the wonderful beaches along the Jurassic coastline and there are several farm shops relatively close for any special food shops required and plenty of little towns. Exeter City is only a 30 minute drive away. A perfect place which we would happily return back to.
