My wife and I spent 5 nights (Mon-Fri) at this lovely converted barn on Exmoor. We stayed during late November, so we were treated to the beautiful autumnal colours of nature, although at this time of year the temperature does drop off considerably after sundown, however the property does have very good central heating and a fire if you choose to use it (which we didn't). The property is accessed by narrow lanes and the driveway to the main farmhouse, but the property is set up above the farmhouse, so you are not overlooked, although you can see the farmhouse a short distance away from the front of the property. The parking at the front has ample room to manoeuvre your car. (Room for 2/3 cars) Entry is at the rear of the property, which you need to ascend several steps to access (keeps you fit). And as for the property itself, the property is presented to a VERY HIGH standard, with furnishings and equipment top quality. Bathroom well equipped and with lashings of hot water for shower or bath (which is separate). Bedrooms are of good sizes (1double,1twin), suitable for family of four or two couples. Very quiet setting although you may just hear the gentle hum of the fridge/freezer. We ventured out to Taunton (1.1/4hr) good p/and ride, Ilfracombe 50 mins, Exeter (1.1/2hr)p/and ride, good for shopping. And the moor for the adventurous. But back to the property, quite simply put, a lovely, quiet, off the beaten track setting, where you can enjoy a few drinks and food and just chill out, not tied to any time restraints and just relax. Thanks to the owners for the welcome gifts. Much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which went by far to quick. Highly recommended. X.

This is the best cottage with roses around the door and marmalade to boost your spirits!
Where do we start? It is situated in a lovely peaceful village, just the sound of occasional church bells and a cockerel. The cottage is beautiful with everything you would need. Excellent wifi inside the cottage and the tv has plenty of freeview channels. Beds comfortable indeed. If you want a quiet time away from reality you have found it. Huge garden which our dog Mabel loved. We found ourselves outside every morning for coffee and breakfast listening to the wood pigeons. On arrival the most fantastic supply of items left for you including home made bread, lemon drizzle cake, jam and marmalade plus other items. When I say marmalade i really mean the best ultimate thick cut heaven on this earth. Kit is a very good chef indeed. We made use of the "Kit will cook for you" on our arrival day. We said what we wanted as a menu and he cooked it to perfection. Penny and Kit are awesome hosts, there if you need them and not intrusive in any way. Lovely friendly couple. We thoroughly recommend this property as a way of recharging batteries in life. Great for visiting Torbay, Dartmouth, Salcombe etc. Advice : Read the instructions attending the property beforehand as there is no phone signal outside or inside the property. Phones can use the very good wifi for calls etc once logged on.

Weâre a family of 4, our children are 5 and 8.
We had a lovely week at Forge Place. The house was well kitted out, cosy and had everything we needed. Bovey Tracey is a really nice place â the children loved the House of Marbles, heritage centre and Jolly Rogers (which has life-sized models to look at). There are several good play parks and we went to the outdoor swimming pool. We also took to the bikes and did a couple of rides, from just up the road thereâs a lovely ride to Newton Abbot or Moretonhampstead the other way. We also went on the steam train at Paignton, to the beach and Newton Abbott Museum. We barely scratched the surface, thereâs loads to do in the area. Our car broke down and had to go to a garage, we could still get around reasonably by bus and there are trains from Newton Abbott. The owners, Gill and Adam, are really nice. They showed the children footage of the hedgehogs and mice in the wildlife area opposite the cottage and when they heard of our car problems they were really helpful. We donât usually go back to the same place but felt it was so nice with lots to do nearby we may well go back in a few yearsâ time.

This property was in an ideal location close to Instow, Appledore and Westward Ho!
A Coop in the local village or not much further to drive to a large Sainsbury's for a bigger shop and much cheaper and more choice! Property ideal for the 5 of us, 2 double bedrooms both with ensuite and a further twin bedroom and a bathroom and a downstairs bathroom. This was an added bonus having 2 double bedrooms as the property is advertised as only sleeping 5 and the one bedroom only having a single bed in it when in fact a double bed all be it not as big. A lovely property and suited our party perfectly. The property is furnished to a high standard, the only issue we had is that the sofa and chairs could have been more comfortable the designs of them weren't made for relaxing in after a busy day exploring the area! That aside would definitely stay in this property again Fremington is a lovely village and Fremington Quay cafe and the visitor centre is a must visit so interesting and lovely cream teas!

Cornworthy is a wonderful place to visit - if you enjoy peace, unpolluted night skies, natural beauty, walks along the river and loads of great pubs and restaurants just a short drive away.
Court Prior Cottage is just perfect and I'm delighted to have found it and booked it (we had originally booked for December 2020, but Covid rules forced us to postpone until June, and it worked out just fine). The cottage has been beautifully and stylishly renovated, with interesting paintings and pictures, very comfortable sofas and beds, loads of books, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and a pretty, enclosed garden. Our welcome pack included cake, eggs, milk, and a bottle of wine; which was a real treat. We book a lot of UK cottages and in many, we are lucky if we are given a J-cloth and some washing up liquid! With such fabulous walks from the door, we didn't want to leave and hope very much to return.
