What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jacqui - Verified booking

The cottage itself was lovely and very well equipped and comfortable, one of the best I've stayed in.

It was very clean and clearly a lot of thought has gone into guest comfort. The location is beautiful. What I didn't like was the lack of privacy. CCTV recording video and audio at the front. CCTV on the back garden. Neither were declared in the listing even though Sykes say it should be disclosed. Fortunately the hot tub is around the side and not covered by CCTV. Over zealous and very bright security lights made sitting outside in the evening with a glass of wine to enjoy the fading light impossible as they come on at the slightest of movements. This was a disappointment as it's a great spot for night sky gazing. Ditto for enjoying the hot tub after the kids have gone to bed. No screening between the neighbours conservatory which abuts the boundary so the neighbours were sat a few feet away looking straight into the garden. There was an odd and seemingly unnecessary mention of sex offenders in the guest information folder which my daughter read. I hadn't expected to be explaining to a 10 year old what a sex offender is on the first night of my holiday. The information on wild boar was interesting and informative. The hot tub almost certainly was not serviced during our stay. It had reasonable use as there were 5 of us but despite diligent showering beforehand by the 5th evening the water was cloudy and it had a very unpleasant smell. We left on day 6 so no idea if it was serviced after this. We pretty much only ever book properties with hot tubs and have never previously had issues with water quality or smell. It was too cold to use on the first evening presumably due to a change of water so don't expect to relax in it soon after arrival. When usable it was a great addition. On the whole what should have been a wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage didn't feel particularly relaxing particularly when using the outside space. I'm aware I could have cancelled on arrival as the CCTV was not declared however this wasn't a realistic option after a 7.5 hour journey with three young children. It's not particularly clear from the listing whether there's a dining table which almost put me off booking as we always eat meals at the table as a family. There is dining table with two benches and a fold up chair which was perfectly adequate for dining.

      The perfect break!

What a little gem of a property. Myself, my wife and our little dog stayed at The Croft to celebrate our 1st year wedding anniversary. The house is surrounded by areas of outstanding natural beauty which made great walks, with a welcome stop at a local pub for lunch. Malvern hills, wye valley and Cotswolds wildlife park and Zoo were just a few of the highlights. The house itself was absolutely outstanding. The level of care when we arrived shone through (from little chocolates by the bed and milk in the fridge to an anniversary card). The owners live next door and are the kindest loveliest people you could ever wish to meet! They do not intrude on your holiday at all. The grounds surrounding the house are quite difficult to put into words - a private forest, pond/lake and wonderful farm animals. Our little dog was really in his element here and we were too! The hot tub was a welcome way to end the day. Highly recommend staying here! It is a great place to unwind. We also purchased some lovely meat from the owners farm which is absolutely delicious. Thank you Sally and Steve!

This beautiful tranquil home exceeded expectations.

The photos on here are beautiful but to actually be there and feel the atmosphere was enchanting. This is the most relaxed on holiday I have ever felt, my dog was so relaxed ,I needed to wake ' him' up in the mornings ! The hosts Kev & Suzy are wonderful, very kind genuine friendly people who went above & beyond to make this a home from home stay. On arrival we found they had provided so many treats ,fruit, sweeties ,nuts ,cheese ,scones ,jam , butter ,bread ,wine, tea coffee, fresh milk , I could go on ! I was literally blown away. It is immaculately clean & fresh, the bed is very comfortable and the sofa.....I wanted to take it home ! Clean towels and dressing gowns were provided , lovely warm blanket hoodies & toiletries. The decor here is stunning ,you can really feel the personal heart felt love & time that has been put in here, I'm just so thankful Kev & Suzy have opened the doors to share this little sanctuary. The views are stunning, no need for music, the bird song is plentiful , from the little Robins to the geese skimming the river just below.

The property is beautifully situated on a steep hill overlooking the Wye valley, river and country side.

The location could not be more perfect for a trek down to the valley, river activities or just a visit to the wonderful pub situated within a 5 minute walk from the property. The host were very friendly and welcoming, it made our stay a treat to meet such nice people. They also prepped us with loads of information and had a wealth of maps/guides available inside to plan our visit. The facilities and amenities in the property are excellent and well appointed, personally we loved the décor of the study and living room. The kitchen amenities were excellent and you found everything you might need to make yourself a quick breakfast prior to setting out. Our favorite space was the terrace that overlooked the valley, you could not ask for a nicer view when having your morning tea. Also, the hot-tub was a treat and much needed after exploring the valley for hours. I would recommend anyone wanting to stay in Wye valley to book this location, we look forward to returning for longer.

We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday at Paradise Found.

The apartment was beautifully done, well equipped and very comfortable. The welcome pack was extremely generous and very delicious. We especially enjoyed barbequing on the balcony, listening to the birdsong, seeing deer up close in the wooded lanes and birds of prey over the valley. There are excellent eateries serving local produce all around, and many are walkable. There are wonderful walks right from the doorstep both up and over The Doward, to caves and cliffs, into the woods and down by the river. You can get the hand ferry or walk to the rope bridge over the river and explore there too. Our little dog loved his walks and dips in the river. What a truly special area this is, and a fantastic place to stay for nature lovers. Many thanks to our hosts for sharing their home and garden with us for what was probably the most relaxing holiday we have had. We will come back! Kind regards Kate, Steve and Ozzy.
