Fabulous weekend with the girls.
My oldest school friends and I met in Ludlow to celebrate my birthday. A Friday to Friday booking. Chose Sunningdale after careful research as the places in town centre had difficult and expensive parking and Sunningdale had great parking for 3 cars and only 10 minutes walk to town. Didnât really clock the place had an added bonus, the games room! We had two nights of fun - juke box, air hockey, pool table and car racing to add to our enjoyment with our cocktailâs. The place warmed up quickly with electric heater even in Feb. All in all a very warm and comfortable house, probably the best equipped kitchen ever had, and once weâd worked out there was no kitchen bin and how to organise ourselves for the 4 types of rubbish we were sorted! Great upstairs bathroom. Thereâs even a charging station for two electric toothbrushes! Great beds. Luxury towels. And Iâve not even mentioned the home made cake, sweet treats, two bottles of wine and a cream topped milk. We enjoyed the castle, bread walk, river walk, unusual independent shops shopping, fat face, leaf and white stuff, Saturday market plus eating and drinking in Ludlow. Really good place for a girls weekend! Since the price was the same for the weekend as the week I stayed on to work for the week. I now want to live in Ludlow! Good office work space, good Wi-Fi. In the evenings I enjoyed two trips to the cinema (10 minutes walk) and Aqua Aerobics at the leisure centre (20 minutes walk), which I booked about two weeks before my visit no problem. During lunchtimes I nipped into town to get my steps in. Every second Thursday of month thereâs the farmers market. But even if you donât have that you have fabulous cheese, butchers, wine and deli shops everywhere. Only a 10 minutes walk to a massive Tesco if needed. All in all probably the most enjoyable self catering experience ever. Thank you to the hosts next door for sharing your lovely home with us.

So Glad we found Harris House, Ludlow.
Wanted to take my 83 year old father away for a relaxing week as he had been poorly. Luckily we picked the Early May Bank holiday that was the hottest on Record. Our family has never rented a holiday home before so we really did not know what to expect. I am now afraid, because our expectations were exceeded, Harris House has now set the Gold standard bar for future holiday lets in other destinations. In fact â we may not go elsewhere and carry on going to Ludlow every year because this house had everything and our time spent there was lovely and relaxing. The owners sent a lovely email a few weeks before our due date (05.05.18 - 12.05.18), and from the tone of that you could tell that nothing was a problem â just to contact them had you any concerns. I want to repeat everything everyone has complimented and mentioned on the sykes cottage website, i.e Spotless, quiet location, stones throw away from Ludlow town, handy to A49 to reach other desitnations, household kit / appliances to very good standard, everything to hand, everything thought of. It also felt actually felt very homely and very peaceful. You did not feel out of place or scared to move. My father has difficulties with his mobility - but this house was perfect for anyone with these issues as everything was spaced out and it was not cluttered, so nothing to bang into and the stairs had a solid banister to help him. The shower was a power shower â so that made me very happy, and the view when doing the dishes out the window â money could not buy. Even doing dishes made me happy that week. It truly is a great place to stay.

This house is a really lovely place to go on holiday.
It had everything you would need and was extremely spacious and comfortable and very well equipped. The garden was fantastic, I met the gardener and had a nice chat with him about the plants. It's a great place to sit out in on a sunny day and even has some herbs you can use for cooking. We would definitely recommend Harris House to anyone wanting to visit Ludlow. The local area is great, it has got castles, a market, museums and good walks, as well as all the local amenities and a market and good restaurants. We went to Hay on Wye for the day which was absolutely wonderful for people who love books. Also my partner found a great vinyl shop in Ludlow that he says is worth visiting if that is your thing. Overall we would recommend this holiday cottage without hesitation, as well as the area. It would suit families with younger children and older family groups as well.

We had a great week and this is our fourth visit to Harris House.
The hosts are always prompt to respond to any matter raised and are extremely well organised when it comes to arranging arrival details etc. The house is in a very central area and very quiet. I do feel that the kitchen can be improved by the addition of a slow cooker, air fryer/ steamer and mini food processor. Ludlow is famous for food and with increasing costs this would help families with their budget on holiday. Also, as the house can take six guests a four slice toaster would be a good idea too. A vacuum cleaner would be a good idea as well. I would certainly encourage a visit to Harris House. The views are fantastic. The heating system is both efficient and easy to use. There are always plenty of towels and tea towels available for use and loads of crockery. There are also a number of house keys and window keys . Book early. Many of us come back!

Nice, clean and comfortable cottage.
I knew in advance that the cottage didn't have wifi or TV so no issue here. I took some DVDs to watch movies in the evenings. What I didn't expect was the practically lack of signal inside the cottage. I went to visit my daughter who lives in Ludlow and was planning to work from the cottage during the day using the hot spot on my mobile phone. It was impossible to connect which was very frustrating. I had to spend my whole stay working from coffee shops in Ludlow which was far from ideal and also added an unnecessary additional cost to my bill. Unless WIFI is installed I won't stay at 138D Old Star and Garter Mews again. I am sure the owner is losing business as a result. Apart from this, the cottage is cute, comfortable and has a great location (just 2min walk from Tesco which is useful for shopping)
