Plan your holiday your way with Sheffield Holiday Cottages

Sheffield is a cool and cosmopolitan city in the heart of Yorkshire. There's lots to see and do in Sheffield city centre including the Millennium Galleries, Kelham Island Museum and the Botanical Gardens.

The city of Sheffield is also home to a bustling high street and vibrant nightlife with plenty of brilliant restaurants, bars and pubs, and fantastic live music venues, perfect for a memorable night out.

Fancy a break from the city? Surrounding Sheffield you'll find picturesque sprawling countryside and the beautiful Peak District National Park, ideal for outdoor adventures.

To complete your trip, stay in one of our hand-selected Sheffield holiday cottages. We have dozens of gorgeous self-catering properties packed with character, charm, and all the home comforts you could wish for.

Why choose a Sheffield weekend break?

Located in South Yorkshire is Sheffield, a unique city on the edge of the incredible Peak District, so city excitement and stunning natural beauty go hand in hand.

Sheffield is built on hills and rivers, the main one being the River Don, and completely regenerated itself after the Industrial Revolution. Old factory buildings and warehouses retain their historic stature but are now the homes of thriving independent businesses, restaurants, and other cool eateries. In short, Sheffield is a city with a vibrant history mixed with a modern and creative edge.

While the city is well-known for its steel production, there is so much more to Sheffield. It's a multicultural city with an eclectic arts scene, from museums and galleries to theatre and live music. One of our favourite areas is Kelham Island, which was once a powerhouse of industry and is now an eclectic and trendy neighbourhood.

Sheffield's museums are all free to visit, and many of them tell the stories of the city's past. The Kelham Island Museum is a fascinating insight into Sheffield going back over 300 years, while Weston Park Museum located just outside the city centre, provides history going back to prehistoric times.

For a spot of tranquillity in the heart of the city, head to the Winter Garden, a beautiful oasis and one of Europe's largest urban greenhouses. The eco-friendly building is a lovely way to enjoy a spot of respite, where you can relax among over 2,000 plants from across the globe. Or why not visit the beautiful Sheffield Cathedral and marvel at the oldest building in the city?

Impressive street art is everywhere in Sheffield. You can take a street art tour around the city or pop into The Millennium Gallery or Graves Gallery for more street art fun.

Music fans will be in heaven when visiting Sheffield. The city is renowned for its music scene, with famous artists including Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me The Horizon, Pulp, Def Leppard, and The Human League hailing from Sheffield. You can even spot a huge portrait of Jarvis Cocker on the side of a building in Kelham Island.

To experience some top-notch live music, head to iconic venues such as The Leadmill, the longest running live music venue in the city.

Sheffield is also a dream come true for foodies. It has a thriving independent food scene, with countless cafes, eateries, restaurants, street food stalls, and bars everywhere you look. To discover more amazing food spots, join a Kelham Island Food Tour, or go to Cutlery Works, a food hall in Kelham Island with a buzzing atmosphere and lots of independent food vendors.

There's also lots of excellent shopping to be had in Sheffield. For something a little different, venture slightly south of the city centre and have a wander around the Antiques Quarter. It's a quirky area filled with ancient buildings and hidden antique gems. Meadowhall is a huge shopping mall packed with over 250 stores from high street to designer. There's also a massive food court and a cinema.

With so much to see and do in Sheffield, you'll only wish your trip could go on for longer.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Peter - Verified booking

Wonderful accommodation in perfect location for exploring surrounding area.

Spacious grounds/accommodation set in a friendly housing estate. Information prior to arrival tells you everything you need to know and one of the lovely owners greeted us on arrival. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped, comfortable and nicely decorated. The conservatory is light and airy with heating and furniture, a lovely spot to have breakfast! It also has access to a paved area with outdoor seating. The laundry room has everything you could need with a huge washer and separate tumble dryer. The kitchen is home-from-home, everything you need to enjoy your stay - we had a chef with us and he was impressed with the facilities! The dining room is comfortable and cosy with a walk-through into the lounge with laminate flooring throughout. The furniture is comfortable and clean and there is a TV for entertainment. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds comfortable with clean and lovely smelling linen. If you are like us a pack far too many clothes then you'll be pleased to know there is loads of cupboard space! The bathrooms are modern, spotlessly clean and the showers are lovely with heated towel rails - there are more than enough big fluffy towels for everyone. Extras - fresh eggs, home-made scones, jam, clotted cream, teabags, salt/pepper. There is also a box in the laundry room with "things you might have forgotten" in - shampoo, razor, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, sewing kit etc. The owners have done everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and we only saw them a couple of times so they didn't intrude on our time there. We woke up one morning to another bowl of fresh eggs on the doorstep - it's the little touches like this that make a wonderful holiday even more special.

We had a lovely stay here.

It really was like a home from home! Jane and John had thought of everything that could possibly be needed, even an ‘On no! I’ve forgotten my..’ kit which was a lovely touch. They were just next door if we had any issues (which we didn’t). There was tea, coffee, milk and fresh flowers to welcome us on arrival too. The property is very spacious with a lovely bright conservatory. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels. One of our party had difficulty walking and we needed a shower that was easy to walk in to. This property was perfect as everything was on one level. We could park right outside the door. They could use either the wet room or the walk-in shower in the bathroom. It was a great base for visiting surrounding areas. We drove to Matlock, Bakewell, Lincoln, Chesterfield, Clumber Park, Welbeck Abbey and Sherwood Forest. Bolsover castle was about a 15 minute walk and there was a Morrisons about the same distance nearby. I would definitely come back again!

The Cottage is everything you could ask for from a first class holiday rental.

It has everything you could need for your stay. It was spotless, beautifully decorated and very well appointed to allow you to enjoy your break. Being open planned and all on one level meant I was able to get around very easily even with limited mobility. We were welcomed by Liz, who is genuinely the loveliest host and greeted by a delicious welcome basket of goodies. Our neighbours, the farm’s herd of cows, were delightful and kept us entertained. The fabulous farm shop and tea room next door provided us with the most delicious local produce for breakfast and tea. The Cottage looks out over the beautiful hillsides of the Peak District and was a great base from which to visit Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock and all the other local attractions. We really couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay for our first (but not last) holiday in the Peak District. A big, BIG, thank you to Liz and the team for making our stay AMAZING.

      An absolute home from home!

We had a lovely warm welcome from Jane when we arrived giving us all the information that we needed for our stay. She let us know that she was just next door if we needed anything but that she would leave us alone to settle in and enjoy our break. We were so pleased to find homemade scones and plenty of other treats in the kitchen but even better was the bungalow itself. It's so homely and is so clean! We immediately felt relaxed which led to us having a really enjoyable stay. Both Jane and John spent time with our youngest son, letting him help with the chickens which made his year and means we must return to see them again! Jane and John are great hosts who have the balance just right of being on hand if you need them but also not imposing on you as guests there. We would recommend Cherry Fields and will certainly be back! Thanks

The bungalow was spotless and clean and a good size.

It was kind of the owner to leave us scones, jam and cream for arrival not to mention the fresh eggs as well. Jane allowed us to walk the dogs right up the end of the joint garden/drive which was kind. There was plenty of off road parking behind the property and the conservatory and wet room were highlights. There was an abundance of storage space and many items were provided for use like hair dryers, etc. There were very few negatives, for example the heating was quite loud in the night so it is advisable to keep it a little lower to avoid being disturbed. The decoration was quite dated in places but most of us found it quite charming. Overall it is a lovely property in walking distance to town, the Co-op, the Castle and the central park so I would certainly book it again in the future.
