Lovely, warm and cosy period cottage with traditional features but all modern conveniences, including Nespresso coffee machine.
Lovely quality crockery, cutlery etc and sharp kitchen knives, which are so often lacking. Comfortable bed. It was just two of us so we used the first floor bedroom and generously sized shower room, but there was another double and a single room on the second floor with a bathroom with a bath. Bed linen was good quality. Good access to internet and Smart TV apps and lovely, easy to use, gas fire to take the chill off when necessary. Appreciated the bottle of bubbly and initial supply of milk, tea bags, coffee capsules, dishwasher tablets and wash capsules (a second kitchen bin liner would have been useful). Like others we found the car park space tight, especially when the neighbouring space is occupied. My hatchback is described as compact by its manufacturer but at most it's small mid-sized, but it was a squeeze and you have to reverse in or you can't get out of the car. If we had been more than two plus a small dog and driven a larger car we wouldn't have been able to use the space. The ground floor area of the cottage is lovely, but again, we were only two and it would have been tight for space with 4 adults. Very easy walking distance of everything in town. We particularly liked the Dart Cafe as the dog was warmly welcomed. We drove to Brixham via the lower ferry, and went to Kingswear as foot passengers to ride the steam train and back. Easy access to the South Coast Path on a good day too.

The cottage is lovely; you enter via the back yard and back door into a roomy kitchen/diner which lacks cupboard space.
The lounge is very comfortable and the TV has Netflix which was an added bonus. The double bed is slightly hard and uncomfortable and the shower is slow, but overall, the cottage is very good. No visitors' book to complete which is a shame as we always enjoy reading where people have been to get some tips of where to go. The village is small with a very busy main road running through the middle of it. The shop stocked everything you could possibly need for a week's holiday. No dog walking places in the village unfortunately which meant we had to walk around the very narrow country lanes first thing each morning which wasn't so safe. Harbertonford is ideal for exporing south Devon and despite being there while storm Alex raged for 2 days we managed to visit Totnes (great for shops), Bovey Tracey (great for dog walking), Dartmouth, Salcombe, Paignton and Brixham. Overall, we had a great week and would return to the cottage.

We absolutely loved this accommodation but the parking was a real problem.
We came thinking we could leave the car on the drive and forget all about it but this was not possible due to there being a car on next doorâs drive. This meant we were unable to get ours on Nookie cottageâs drive. We played musical car parks all week which was costly and frustrating! The market square car park is free (and close by) but getting a space there is the hard bit. The park and ride is also an option but we didnât like the thought of leaving the car so far away from nookie cottage. The cottage itself is gorgeous and has everything you could possibly want for the week stay (apart from enough toilet roll - pack some extra to last the week!). We will most likely return next year as we loved the cottage and itâs location but we will be bringing my mini so we can definitely fit on the driveway!

We had an amazing Christmas as Nookie Cottage.
The owners had decorated the cottage beautifully and there were some lovely unexpected touches. We did contact Sykes before arriving to ask if there was a Nespresso machine. They said no, but in fact there is one there which was a very pleasant find (morning coffee fix sorted). We saw some debates about the size of car that can fit on the small driveway. Well we managed to (carefully) park a Land Rover Discovery on it - so with a little care, and with next door also parking considerately itâs possible to get a decent sized vehicle on the drive (just!). Great location, very comfortable and extremely clean and well presented. We would definitely stay again.

The cleanliness of the property appears to be left to the last people that are visiting, there was rubbish including a packet of tablets on the floor.
Dog hair was found in one of the beds. The fridge is not big enough to accommodate the amount of people that can stay. Amazon prime wasn't working as stated. When using the hoover, after hoovering the whole place stunk of dogs. The cutlery and dishes were grimey and hadn't been cleaned properly - oil still on the pans, grimey feel to the cutlery and dishes had to wash before we could use them. This is a big let down especially in times of a pandemic. A professional clean should take place before and after visitors to ensure none of the above is experienced. Additionally as pets are allowed then the hoover needs to be cleaned or changed on a regular bases.
