What our customers say about their holidays

    • Sean - Verified booking

The house has such great potential, however we had several issues during our stay, and some positives too.

      1) The dishwasher was broken, we were told when we arrived - as 3 families (11 people) this wasn't ideal, it was a lot of extra time washing dishes on a supposed luxury break, I know these things can't be helped, but it was not replaced until literally the morning we left (the irony!) this could have been resolved much sooner. 2) The hot tub was freezing cold for the first 24 hours, we were told it was due to it being 'cleaned' yet no other lodge we have stayed at had this problem, it was also never inspected for the entire week we were there, other lodges have someone come every morning to check the ph levels etc, which may have caused our illness (see further down). 3) The house was not cleaned to a satisfactory standard, firstly, let me say the main cleaner was absolutely wonderful, a lovely lady who tried her best, but that property is too much for one cleaner, you need a couple of cleaners to really properly clean it, the wooden floor was dirty, the sofa had a musty smell (why fabric sofa's in a lodge? Surely get leather easier to clean!) Positives; 1) The tennis court is brilliant, as are the swings/play area for the kids, clean and just a really good area, fresh air, no need for video game consoles! 2) The staff on site, particularly the main cleaner, and the lady in the main office who kept informing us of the dishwasher situation, she also sent the cleaner to clean the lodge when we mentioned the issue. 3) 2 Bottles of wine on arrival, very nice touch, and very nice wine. 4) Beds were comfortable, showers were powerful, rooms were huge. Unfortunately, out of 11 of us, 9 of us were sick during and following the stay, the children from the early part of the stay, later moving on to the adults - whilst we can't exactly pinpoint what caused it, we have our suspicions it was related to the hot tub cleanliness. When all is said and done, would we go back there? Probably not.

      The property itself is fantastic.

A very modern barn conversion in a lovely location. Beds were very comfortable although I think an option for a harder pillow is necessary for those with that preference. There was no way of cleaning the toilets during our stay. On arrival, the property seemed unclean, lots of dust and cobwebs in easily accessible areas. There was dirty washing in the dishwasher, presumably from previous guests. Windows weren’t very clean at all. Pool table was slanted despite this being a major selling point for the property, so a bit disappointed with that although I did not stop us from using it each night. Lighting wasn’t great above the table and sometimes it was hard to see which ball was which colour (mainly when playing snooker). Hot tub is great. Although, with it being wood fired it takes time to heat up. This is not always possible with days out etc and by the time it has heated, it would be pushing well into the night. I know this is not the case for everybody. Have to say that the maintenance team were great as there were a couple of issues during our stay which were fixed straight away. Communication with them via e-mail was quick and easy. Lots of flies at the property which is understandable as it is on a working farm. The fly spray provided did not quite cut it unfortunately. I think this needs looking at (if possible). I hope this feedback helps in the future. Thanks again for our stay :)

The host has been extremely helpful, in letting us know what eating places there was nearby by.

And had also provided brochures and books about all the places nearby. The host had left us scones and cream, and milk and butter in the fridge and a bottle of wine, The hot tub had been emptied and we where told when it would be at the ideal temperature. There was two bathroom robes, which was a useful touch. There was plenty of hot water, and the heater was on,and was lovely and cosy. Beautiful view of the sea. The hosts have a friendly dog, which puts his head and paws on the fence to great you. There’s a washing machine and a foldaway airer and pegs and laundry basket which was very useful,as we did a load the day before we left. Loads of soft lovely towels. We found the matteress too soft for what we are used to. I mentioned to the host that I could have done with a foot stool, and she said she was going to get one. It’s lovely and private, and a lovely space outside with table and chairs, sun loungers and hottub. The host left us a disposable barbecue.. There’s a ironing board and iron, and a air dryer. We couldn’t have had a better cottage,or hosts.

WOW! Little Honeynook is just the most amazing place to stay from the inside to the outside garden and views.

Everything was absolutely immaculate and very comfortable. A kingsize bed with so much storage for your clothes. Touch bedside lights and plenty of USB points. The kitchen is very well fitted out with everything you could possibly need including a really lovely welcome hamper, delicious scones, cream, a bottle of wine and more. The lounge is a great size and decorated in blue hues. A good sized table and chairs and a big TV! All around the property are pictures and lovely ornaments to make it feel like a home from home. The bathroom is also fabulous, big fat soft towels, great shower and bath and even some scales if your worried you may have indulged to much. Lastly the view out of the lounge is absolutely beautiful. Look up when it's dark. On a clear night there were so many stars. It's 5 stars from me, highly recommended.

We absolutely loved our stay, mainly because of all the thought that had gone into making the cottage a truly luxury experience.

The welcome basket on arrival was such a lovely gesture, all the little touches like providing washing capsules, toiletries and even bathrobes were unexpected pleasures. We cooked for the duration of our stay, everything you could possibly need in a kitchen was provided. The garden, with its beautiful view down to the sea, was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet. The hot tub was just fabulous, we loved being pampered by its bubbles after days out exploring! Everything surpassed our expectations, it was such a delightful place to forget about London for a week and just breathe. We are so thankful to Ian and Gill for going that extra mile in making sure their guests have a wonderful experience, it is without a doubt the best cottage break we have ever had! We will definitely be back for more next year!
