What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Melanie Martin - Verified booking

We had a fantastic time at the Shooting Box Tower, everything about the cottage (well house really) exceeded our expectations. The lounge in itself was wonderful and we all miss those super comfortable sofas. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked each evening a fantastic meal, everything from roast dinner to curry. The garden was lovely, plenty of seating and I may have just ordered a swing seat like at the property for my own garden. The location is wonderful, secluded on a quiet road but close to Battle, in fact we never ventured further than about 30 minutes drive to all the attractions we saw, such as Sissinghurst, Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle, Bexhill, Hastings, Rye. I had no idea that you can have such a wonderful holiday down south, so we hope to return as there is simply so much to explore.

I stayed for a week with my dogs and had a great time. The cabin is clean and comfortable with good linen and towels. I slept well on the comfortable bed and found the location peaceful. It is only a short distance from beaches, nature reserves and country parks and a good pub the White Hart with lovely food and views. The owners were faultless, kind and friendly. Their shop next to the Cabin had lovely local produce and the dog friendly cafe a real bonus. As a solo guest I felt safe staying at the Hideout and the dogs enjoyed it too in a safe secure pretty garden that has pebbles and a grass area. A good get away from it all place to stay.

Beautiful property just a couple of miles out of Battle. Loads of interesting things to do in the area for both adults and kids. Batemans (Kipling's House) was a highlight for us). Excellent hosts - very friendly. And the property itself was stunning both inside and out - large rooms, high ceilings, high quality furnishings, also with lots of outside areas for BBQs and for just lounging in the sun. Steep stairs inside - we have a toddler but she managed fine. Very highly recommended!!! Thank you.

We have been staying in holiday cottages for 18 years and this is the best yet. The furnishing is very comfortable, plenty of room for everyone with lots of thoughtful extras. James and Roy made us very welcome and the home made bread was delicious. The surrounding area is beautiful and there is plenty to see and do. I recommend The White Hart in Netherfield - excellent food and service. If you want a relaxing break in a beautiful house then The Shooting Box Tower is the place for you.
