Superb in every way. Host amazing. Location amazing. Best shepherds hut we have ever stayed in. Hut itself very comfortable and had everything you would want or need. Bed very comfortable. Hut very cosy with central heating and log burner. Kitchen extremely well equipped and cooker excellent. Bathroom is equivalent to a five star hotel. Beautiful fluffy towels and bathrobes, large rain shower which was a pleasure to use every morning. The bath is for me the star attraction.... window opening into woodland with delightful bird song and no shortage of hot water hence the reason I spent at least 2 hours in it every evening!! The seating is second to non... inside the hut the two chairs by the log burner are very comfortable. Outside the decked area between the main hut and bathroom was perfect for shelter to have shade from the sun or protection from wind. The chairs st the fire pit are so good we are buying two for home!! The fire pit was also a major addition, we had very good weather so used it every night and the solar lights in the trees were a beautiful touch. Besides the accommodation a major pull to return to this superb area is Euan, he was the best host we have eve encountered and perhaps this is why he also has created the best hut we have ever stayed in!!!

Wonderfully equipped Shepard's hut in a beautiful rural location, perfect for a true retreat from the world, we planned to explore the local area, but we enjoyed the peace so much we stayed sitting with the little log fire and a good book watching the squirrels in the woods instead. There is a wealth of information in the local guide left in the hut including laminated maps for walking and cycling. Euan was a wonderful host and looked after us well, leaving a host of goodies for us, and even brought us some delicious sausages to cook on the fire the first night, and helped us out with some petrol before we left! The lanes up were a little dicey, in the dark and rain, I'd recommend approaching from Chepstow side, whilst a bit longer, a much more straightforward journey! Unless you like a long walk, don't walk to the shops, the local one in the village had closed down, and the next one left us with an 8mile round-trip, the bath was certainly very welcome after! We will most certainly be back, and maybe even adventure out next time.

Euan made us feel so welcome when we first arrived and had set the area up beautiful, it was like walking into a fairy tale. Both my husband and I agree that this was the best holiday we have been on. We got the peace and quiet of the countryside with only the owls and robins as neighbours but also the luxury of hot running water, amazing showers, magical bathtub, inside kitchen and an amazing bed. They have really thought of all your needs, comforts and experiences whilst staying with them. The hammock and outside chairs where a dream to have lazy days on with the firepit all prepped for cooking. We felt like we were in our own little world and would have stayed forever. Also the fact that Euan built these huts himself and all the added features to make this stay truly amazing and memorable. Thank you so much for everything, even the fairy who topped up the logs for the fire pit! We will be seeing you again. If there was an option for more Stars you would have given them.

A truly wonderful stay - nature meets luxury in a perfect marriage! Anne's Hut is superbly appointed, every detail taken care of, and Euan is an exceptional host, providing a warm and most generous welcome, always available for any queries, promptly addressed. A lovely place to stay in any weather, the rain we had for 2 days gave a chance to read and lounge on the extremely comfortable bed and the enormous bath. Although there are plenty of things to do/see in the area, we felt no need to venture far - exploring the woodland around Anne's Hut was as refreshing and relaxing as the bath!

The warmest welcome, a generous hamper, the most wonderful dogs, a cosy and comfy bed, beautiful location, hot baths with a wild view, clean and spacious... the list is endless! We were blessed with warm and sunny weather and can’t wait to go back when it’s a bit colder to really indulge in the corner fire after a walk down to Tintern. A few days here felt like a week away - come here if you want to escape and relax. I can’t recommend Anne’s Retreat enough!
