What our customers say about their holidays

    • Carl - Verified booking

Really great location for exploring Pembrokeshire.

Very spacious, well-appointed lodge. There were a few drawbacks: - to get to the lodge you have to walk past the main home entrance of the lodge owner; this wasn’t a huge problem but didn’t allow for any privacy for lodge guests and a little uncomfortable as it feels like you’re walking through someone’s garden and worried about disturbing the owner when exiting the property/going to the car. - it was great to be able to take pets, but our room smelt a bit of dog. Perhaps unavoidable if dogs are allowed on premises. - the boiler was very temperamental, and we had only luke warm water in the main bedroom en suite. We should have spoken with owner but just used the main bathroom; this needs fixing. - the roads to and from the lodge are mostly B roads and many were severely water logged if not flooded. This comes with the lodge being rural but if you’ve got a small sports car then you might want to borrow a car or go someone less rural! The owner left Welsh cakes and mince pies which were lovely and her communication with us was superb. The kitchen was really well stocked with pots, pans etc. and the kitchen being part of the living room area was brilliant for entertaining.

Generally the cottage is good, with reasonable if not top notch facilities [eg would like a cottage for 4 to have a dishwasher].

Although perfectly clean, the need for updating and the amount of knick knacks meant it didn’t quite feel that way and it smelt a little damp, not helped by how dark the cottage was - lots of windows but overgrown vegetation and covered verandah reduced the light. Good cooking equipment and beds comfortable. I was annoyed by the total lack of response to my text to the owners asking about return of items I had left behind [you get the number because they ask you to text them the day before you arrive. Returning the favour would have been helpful]. Sykes were totally useless on this too - the link to the form did not lead to a form, I couldn’t find one anywhere, the live chat was closed and sent you to WhatsApp, the response there was infuriating [we have info for you, do you want it? Umm, yes, then nothing, then describe what you’ve left, I did, then the response WhatsApp is closed, please use SMS. I gave up. Customer Service this is not…]

We had a wonderful mini break.

Hosts were great and on hand if we needed them. The pod was super clean and had everything we needed for a short break. The milk, bubbly and tea and coffee upon arrival was a lovely touch and very welcomed. Surroundings were very peaceful and the guide book of things to do and local information was a great help. We had no issues with flys, but the host had supplied fly traps just incase. We had a super time and plan to return again. The only thing which we would of liked is a tiny sofa instead of the tub chairs or to lower the wooden base at the end of the bed so you can snuggle up to watch the tv when the weather is not at its best! But thats a small thing which we feel would improve the lodge, and it wouldnt stop us from returning. Great relaxing stay.

I'm a busy person usually, as is my husband but it was his 40th and our wedding anniversary this particular weekend, so I booked this getaway as a surprise for him.

We agreed early on I wouldnt takr the work laptop and him gis work phone so the we could just ... be. It was perfction, I haven't known peace like that in many years, it was the most beautiful thing to just be. And not worry about work, school, nursery, cleaning and any other needy thigs life has to throw. I had mever been in a Hottub before, it was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed. We didnt do much walking as I have MS but the views are breathtaking but it was so nice to just. Do. Nothing. I will 100% be back, because I just need more time to do nothing. Its soo peaceful, the teabags were even beautiful!! The dog also loved it, there is absolutely nothing about this little getaway I could possibly criticise. Thank you so much

We would recommend Timbertwig Lodge especially if you have a dog.

We have a large Caucasian Shepherd and the owners of this lodge were really accommodating and pet friendly. Our dog dug a bit of a hole in the garden and Christine was very kind and understanding. The Lodge is perfectly situated between many dog friendly beaches . We went in January, so I do not know about the beaches in the summer. The Lodge was extremely clean ,we took throws for the settees as they are white leather. While the wooden floor helped with large dog paws. The garden is enclosed and safe for our large dog to run loose . It's small but really lovely. We had a great time and we will hopefully go there again . Gloria
