The cottage we stayed at was perfect for our needs.
There were three in our party, plus a dog, but we could have easily taken six. We walked straight out of the cottage and right into the countryside from the front door. Because we had the dog, we were not so bothered about spending time on the beach, and really enjoyed the country walks. It was possible to walk to the beach from the cottage, but it was a little bit of a trek, and wouldn't have been easy with a family. However, very easy access for driving to all of Dorset's local attractions - Abbotsbury, Jurassic coast, Ringstead Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door. It was very easy to have the dog there - there is a stated preference for animals not to go upstairs, but it was quite easy to block the stairs off to prevent this. The area surrounding the cottage was pretty much enclosed - while we wouldn't have left the dog wandering around by herself (as she might have found a way out), while we were sitting in the garden, it was very easy to keep her safe. The cottage was in a very secluded location, so it wasn't a big worry if the dog barked occasionally. The house had all the ameneties (TV with lots of channels & streaming services, dishwasher, two bathrooms, indoor & outdoor eating areas, patio furniture, board games, books) we needed to entertain us if it was raining , or if we stayed in in the evening, or if we wanted to sit outside enjoying the sunshine. The beds were really comfortable, and we all slept well. The Smuggler's Inn pub was very easy to walk to, and does great food, & has an enormous outdoor seating area. There was a handy village shop & a farm shop within 5 mins walk, & small local supermarkets were a close drive nearby. We had a very enjoyable stay, and will be back.

Amazing location, beautiful lodge, great facilities.
They literally have thought of everything in this lodge. From fire pits with wood and firelighters ready to go and blankets to keep warm, to a beautiful woodland walk light up dimly by little fairly lights. The hot tub is fantastic, and the view from it is even better, most nights we had a little deer visit us. The wildlife in the area is outstanding, we saw pairs of green woodpeckers, a pheasant that would feed from your hand and walk with you in the fields, swallow flying around everywhere and much more. Including the two fluffy gentle natured cats that take a stroll on a morning and night. The owners were so tentative yet you felt like you were completely alone, thanks to the view of fields and woodland in front of the lodge, and a fence on the left tucking away the owners house. We were surprised to find a lovely bottle of bubbly and homemade lemon drizzle cake set out for us. The lengths the owners have went to, to deliver a relaxing and really enjoyable holiday, is ridiculous. We cannot fault them! I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone, whether your looking to chill out and enjoy a drink and the hot tub, or watch nature come right up to you. This has it all. I really could keep going on! Thank you so much, and we hope to stay and see you guys again! Emily & Matty

We loved our stay at Pheasant Lodge and we will come back.
âºï¸ Kellie and Steve were super nice, a welcome pack waited us on the table with lovely food and Prosecco and a birthday card, as it was my birthday and they remembered. Such a lovely gesture. There is an information folder that contains everything you need to know. This is a magic place, you have a private garden and it takes around 20 minutes to go around the whole place that belongs to the owners, you can use their whole woods and enjoy watching its lovely wild life; a deer, a fox family, rabbits, sheeps, birds, squerrel, etc. so wonderful and peaceful. The hot tub is brilliant, clean, checked everyday by the owners and it's so nice sitting in even when the weather is not the best, you can still enjoy the incredible view from the hot tub. It clearly shows that the owners are working hard to make everything clean and tidy while keeping the original miracle of this place. There is a lovely pub just a few minutes by walk, just recommend booking them in advance. The accommodation is well equiped, we brought a lot of things with us that we didn't need to use in the end. Although the owner's place is near and there is another lodge next to this, you still have your privacy, we enjoyed every minute so much! Thank you Kellie and Steve, see you soon. xx

Having recently rented The Old Haberdashery and its sister property, Bobbin Cottage, I cannot recommend both of them highly enough.
The cottages are situated in the lovely village of Langton Matravers, a few minutesâ drive from Swanage, the Dorset seaside resort ranked in the top 10 in a recent survey of British seaside towns by Which magazine. Apart from the excellent beach and attractions in Swanage, the village is only a 10-15 minute drive from Studland and its 4-mile stretch of sandy beach. The village is also great for walkers/hikers as it offers easy access to the South West Coastal Path which runs along the Jurassic coast for 600+ miles. The accommodation itself was clean and the kitchen fitted out with all the mod cons one would need for an enjoyable stay and the owners also left us a very useful welcome pack of tea, milk and some household items. Parking our cars was easy on the not very busy main road outside the cottages. The village also boasts a very friendly pub, the King's Arms and I would also recommend the nearby Square and Compass and Scott Arms pubs, both of which have stunning views, the latter over Corfe Castle. All in all a very enjoyable week. We will be returning!

I would like to give this property 5 stars overall.
The location was lovely. A beautiful woodland was nearby with acres to explore. It had various spots along its pathways with a croquet lawn set up, a tree swing and many other spots to sit and take in the gorgeous scenery. We were lucky enough to have a Fawn come into our lodge garden one evening and we spotted two in the early morning. A treasured memory!!There are also two sheep (mellow and repunzle) in the next field; to whom my Husband liked to go and say hello to each day. The lodge was well equipped and a great base for our week of exploring Dorset. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The hot tub was a great treat at the end of each day. There were towels, towelling dressing gowns and hot tub slippers waiting on the bed when we arrived. With a lovely welcome sign and goodies in a basket. All in all, a lovely place to just relax and unwind. Best wishes Louise and Kevin.
