Guests say

Chiddock Cottage is a spacious and peaceful holiday retreat, praised for its light-filled interiors, well-equipped kitchen, and suitability for families and dog owners. Guests appreciate its tranquil countryside setting, proximity to the New Forest, and thoughtful touches from the owners. While many found the cottage clean and comfortable, some noted areas for improvement such as maintenance of furnishings, driveway, and occasional cleanliness issues. Overall, the property offers a relaxing base for exploring the area, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the cottage clean, with particular praise for fresh bedding and towels. However, several reviews mention issues such as cobwebs, dust, and the need for deeper cleaning of sofas and kitchen utensils. Some also noted dog mess outside. The overall impression is generally positive but with room for improvement.

The location is highly regarded, offering peaceful countryside surroundings and easy access to the New Forest and local attractions. Guests appreciated the tranquillity and convenience for day trips, though a few mentioned the bumpy access lane and limited village amenities.

Guests frequently commented on the spaciousness and comfort of the cottage, especially the beds and open-plan living area. Some noted issues with the sofa, beds in certain stays, and temperature control, but most found the accommodation restful and relaxing.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and amenities for families and dogs. However, several guests highlighted maintenance issues such as faulty doors and windows, outdated appliance testing, and worn furnishings. Some advertised facilities (shop, woodland walks) were no longer available.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome biscuits, milk, toys, games, and local recommendations. Please note that these gestures are not guaranteed for every stay.

Quiet location on a farm outside Fordingbridge - ideal for those who don't need to be in walking distance to shops and amenities.Warm, cosy, clean and everything we needed for a much needed get away.

We have been staying at Midgham farm at least once a year for the last 6 years, and really like the barns, and the position of the accommodation. This was our third or fourth time at Chiddock, and probably our last due to the bed! We will stay at one of the other accommodations on site next time as the purpose of the holiday was to relax and rest, but the bed is so bad that we didn't sleep well at all, which meant we went home as tired as we arrived which wasn't the plan! Have booked to stay at Cozy for next time instead. Everything else was great, but the bed really needs replacing.

The cottage itself is big, warm, comfortable and well equipped. Unfortunately the furnishings are a little tired (possibly down to pet owners), cleanliness is not great and the entrance road is more pot holes than road. i did leave a note for the owners/cleaners but had no response hence the review
