We're just back from an amazing week at the Old Cowshed - so amazing that we booked for another stay whilst we were there. The cottage was all we could have wanted - well appointed, very warm and cosy - central heating is very effective, the walls thick and there's an excellent woodburner for the chillier nights. There's a shared building full of books and dvds to borrow (a selection to exceed the most well-stocked charity shop section!), though the smart TV in our cottage had enough channels and apps to keep us going. We had our dog with us and she enjoyed running around the large, shared (with the two other cottages on site) field, as well as the fantastic walks we took her too which are within very easy reach, as the cottage is in a perfect location for visiting a range of visitor attractions (the Longshaw estate was a particular favourite, as was Renishaw Hall). There are two dog-friendly pubs within a short walk and one - the Peacock - does good food; we took the dog with us and enjoyed a meal there one night. Karen and Mike, the owners, live within the farm complex but are extremely helpful and welcoming without being the least bit intrusive. We're really looking forward to our next visit, but it isn't for quite a few months as all the cottages get very booked up. We can really understand why!

This was our third stay at The Cow Shed and each time has been nothing short of perfect. It's spotless, well furnished, cosy, warm, and in a beautiful area! Karen and Mike are always incredibly helpful and kind, and are always on hand for us should we need them.

Lovely cosy cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The cottage is spacious with a kitchen diner/lounge a large double bedroom and a bathroom with walk-in shower and the largest bath we have ever seen! The kitchen is equipped with everything you need including a dishwasher. There is a shared courtyard outside with a little table and chairs so you can enjoy a glass of wine on warm evenings. There is also a large field for dog walking. The location is perfect with lovely walks on the doorstep and within easy reach some stunning walks in the Peaks. Matlock Bath, Bakewell and Chesterfield are close by for tea shops and shopping. Sheffield is a few miles away. The local pub is a two minute walk and serves delicious food. The whole area is stunningly beautiful. We will definitely be back.
