Thank you for the wine! The cottage is in a good location, 10 mins down a steep hill to the town centre but you can get a bus back up. There is a lovely pub just a 2 min walk through the ‘ginnel’ that does good food. Other pubs, restaurants, fish n chip shop & Sainsbury’s also within a couple of mins walk, especially good is the Olive Tree. Easy access to all, just walk through the car park. This car park is handy & cheap if there is no on street parking available. For the price we paid, the cottage is adequate, if you’re happy with basic, no frills. There’s a nice seating area in the front, the kitchen seems to have everything you would need ( we didn’t cook there), the beds are comfortable. However, the whole place needs a good coat of paint all over & a bit of TLC to really bring out the best in it. There were also cobwebs in the bathroom & mould in the shower tray, which is easily rectified with a spray of bleach! Not sure why the central heating was on full blast at 03.30 on Saturday but wasn’t on throughout the evenings, there is a good gas fire but this frequently cuts out after periods of time. Maybe check the timings on the central heating? All in all a great week in the beautiful Peak District!
