This sandstone period property dating back to the 1850s has been lovingly restored throughout. It is everything you would want a characterful holiday home by the coast to be.. 1 step to entrance.

No smoking. Please note: Step in garden.. Darton Cottage is spread over three floors and comprises a snug and cosy lounge warmed by a gas-fired stove which has a large window that floods the room with natural light. To the rear of the ground floor is the kitchen/dining room with integrated appliances, oak worktops as well as a dining table for six making a good, social space. There is an enclosed yard at the rear with two outbuildings, one housing the washing machine, and the other a useful store for bikes, surfboards and other outdoor equipment. Upstairs on the first floor there are two double bedrooms, both with original fireplaces and a modern full-tiled shower room with a third twin bedroom up on the second floor under the eaves, complete with a TV and games console. At the front of the cottage you have a south facing terrace, where you can sit out in the sunshine after a busy day of exploring the historic town and coast.
The heart of the town with its plethora of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars is only a 10-minute walk away. Darton Cottage is just around the corner from scenic Pannett Park, which houses a local museum. The beginning of the Cinder Track is close, which is a popular for walking and cycle, route connecting Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough. Whitby has something for all age groups and is one of the most visited resorts along the east coast. This seafaring town is proud of its heritage, there are tales of Viking invasions, heroic sea rescues as well as seafaring pioneers. Discover more at the museums, including one on a tall ship in the harbour. Today fishermen still sail from Whitby, there are many award-winning restaurants where you can sample the freshly caught seafood. There are also festivals throughout the seasons making this a perfect all year-round resort to visit. The surrounding North York Moors National Park is full of woodland trails as well as the wonderful heritage steam railway, the steam train leaves Whitby and travels over the moors towards the market town of Pickering, with other picturesque villages along the way.
There is an array of seaside towns and villages along the coast to visit, with breath taking beaches and coves. For younger family members and within an hours drive you have Flamingoland Theme park and zoo, the Sea Life Centre, Alpamare Water Park and Go Ape tree top ziplining in Dalby Forest. There is something to delight everyone all year round, this is a great area to explore. Beach ½ mile.

Cosy cottage in a central location.On arrival it was lovely and warm with a homely feel. The cottage has everything needed for a great stay.Our visit was out of season and we had no problem parking nearby.
