Guests say

Ees Wyke Studio is a charming and cosy holiday rental in a peaceful and picturesque location, ideal for couples and their pets. Guests appreciate the clean accommodation, stunning views, and the proximity to local attractions and walking routes. While some minor issues were noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many expressing a desire to return.

The majority of guests found the studio to be clean and well-presented, with fresh towels and bed linen. However, a few guests mentioned areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as dust on furniture and cobwebs in the bathroom.

The studio's location is highly praised for its stunning views and proximity to walking paths, local pubs, and attractions like Beatrix Potter's Hill Top House. Its peaceful setting away from mainstream tourist areas is also appreciated.

Guests find the studio comfortable, with a cosy atmosphere and a comfy bed. Some guests mentioned the accommodation is compact, and a few had issues with the shower temperature and power, but overall the studio is seen as a pleasant place to stay.

The studio is equipped with necessary amenities and some guests were satisfied with the kitchen facilities. However, there were comments about the need for maintenance, such as fixing the toilet to the floor, and some found the cooking facilities challenging to master.

While some guests were delighted with thoughtful touches like a dog supply basket, others felt the studio lacked a personal touch, noting the absence of welcoming gestures like a pint of milk in the fridge. As not all reviews reference gifts or personal touches, a definitive score cannot be provided.

About this property

A cosy, semi-detached studio cottage located in the hamlet of Near Sawrey, two miles from Hawkshead in the beautiful Lake District National Park. The cottage is perfectly appointed to provide studio accommodation for couples to explore this peaceful and tranquil part of the Lake District. Nestling amongst a small cluster of cottages and next door to a country guest house, this Lake District cottage is surrounded by stunning scenery around every corner. With an open plan living area with a king bed, sitting area and kitchenette plus a shower room with a heated towel rail, this holiday home is compact, but a perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Outside this cottage is a small sitting area with endless footpaths and bridleways to explore in every direction. You will always find somewhere to simply sit back and enjoy this mesmerising landscape. Just 200 yards from the cottage door there is a footpath leading to Moss Eccles Tarn and Claife Heights. The views from Claife Heights over Lake Windermere are spellbinding – don’t forget to take your camera! Just up the road is The Tower Bank Arms Inn and of course, Hill Top, home to Beatrix Potter meaning that without even moving the car you will find lots and lots to do.

There is fishing available on Esthwaite Water and lots of lovely shops and tearooms to enjoy in Hawkshead itself. Why not explore the other side of Lake Windermere by taking the car ferry from Far Sawrey and cruise over to Bowness-on-Windermere where you will find a colourful mix of shops and restaurants? Also the beautiful walled gardens at Holehird, just out of Windermere, are a delight at any time of year. This sweet cottage is compact but a perfect base for couples or just one person to explore this beautiful area.

The village of Sawrey is situated two miles from Hawkshead, overlooked by the woods and tarns of Claife Heights. Sawrey consists of two separate hamlets - Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey. Near Sawrey is famous for Hill Top,where Beatrix Potter wrote her acclaimed children's stories. and is now a museum, owned and run by the National Trust. We had a wonderful time

This is a beautiful little studio with stunning views. We received a very warm welcome from the host, the studio was warm, clean, modern, fully equipped and perfect for our short break with our dog. They even have a doggy supply box! The Ees Wyke hotel next to it is a beautiful old house with so much history. I can see that the owners are very proud of and passionate about their hotel and the studio and this reflects in it. We had a fabulous few days and will definitely be back to stay again! There is so much to do and see around the area and I can recommend the pub up the road too but you do need to book! It’s Christmas and their mulled wine was the best!
