Snaptrip says

The Shippen in Cumbria is highly praised for its peaceful location, cleanliness, and comfort. Guests appreciate the warm welcome from hosts Gay and Graham, the well-equipped facilities, and the cottage's charm. The surrounding views and walks, as well as the thoughtful touches like homemade scones, contribute to a delightful stay. Some guests mention the lack of reliable internet and low doorframes as minor inconveniences.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers consistently mention that the cottage is spotlessly clean, with high-quality linens and well-maintained surroundings, indicating exceptional cleanliness.

The property is celebrated for its quiet, peaceful setting with stunning views and proximity to walks and nature, although its remoteness and access via winding roads are noted.

Guests frequently commend the comfortable bed, cosy atmosphere, and the warm, inviting nature of the cottage, suggesting a high level of comfort.

The cottage is well-equipped with a wood burner, modern kitchen appliances, and quality furnishings. However, some guests report issues with internet reliability and tricky navigation of the spiral staircase.

Many guests express gratitude for the thoughtful gestures such as homemade scones and fruit cake. While these gifts are warmly received, it is politely noted that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

Because the sitting room is on the first floor, you have a beautiful view over the fields and hills. The landlords are the neighbors and nice people who can proudly talk about their house, their garden and the region.

The owners, are seasoned hosts, and have considered everything to make you feel welcomed and for you to have a comfortable stay. They were on hand, but we didn’t really need them as the cottage was so well thought out. We ventured out to various locations, Grizedale Forest, Force Falls, Coniston, Windermere, Hill Top (Beatrix Potters House) - all within 15 mins drive. We also headed further afield to Buttermere Lake along the epic Honister Pass (well worth the hours drive)! We left The Shippen feeling refreshed after 7 days and only wished we had booked for longer!

All our needs anticipated, we were comfortable and found it easy to relax in the quiet, while looking over fields and woodland.
