About this property

Wadham Cottage is every bit your classic Cotswold cottage, with a history dating back hundreds of years. Wadham Cottage is a charming property set within a traditional terrace of 18th century Cotswold cottages, situated centrally in the very attractive village of Bourton on the Water. A delightful and cosy cottage retaining many of its original features, including beams, doors and a Farmington Fireplace in the sitting room. The cottage is ideal for a couple or small family to enjoy the village and explore the local area. A perfect bolt-hole to sample The Cotswolds.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery.

Having a parking space was also a big plus as I've stayed in Bourton previously and had to use a nearby car park. We had a lovely holiday and would come back again

It took us a while to figure out the heating and even after that it took about 8-10 hours for the cottage to heat up to a comfortable temperature. So, our first night was quite uncomfortable. Considering the extreme weather conditions, this is something we would've expected to be looked after upon check-in. Other than this issue, our stay was great. Additionally, we were driving a Jeep Compass and even though the approach road to the parking was a little narrow, we managed comfortably. Overall, we would definitely recommend Wadham!
