Copperbeech cottage in Stow-on-the-Wold is highly praised for its homely feel, cleanliness, and prime location close to local amenities. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and the added charm of a garden. The property is consistently described as clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it a recommended stay for visitors to the Cotswolds.
The majority of reviews highlight the property's cleanliness, with guests often describing it as 'spotless' and 'pristine'. However, one detailed negative review citing cleanliness issues lowers the score slightly.
The location is frequently praised for being central and convenient, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and local attractions. The proximity to the town centre and the ability to explore Stow-on-the-Wold on foot is a consistent positive point among guests.
Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with special mentions of comfortable beds and furnishings. The homely atmosphere and the presence of a garden for relaxation contribute to the high comfort rating.
The cottage is well-regarded for its facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen and spacious rooms. However, some guests suggested minor improvements such as the addition of a coffee machine and draught excluders, and one report of maintenance issues during a local event slightly impacts the score.
While guests express gratitude and appreciation for the property and the service received, there is no specific mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, a score cannot be given for thoughtfulness, and guests should not expect gifts as part of their stay.

Copperbeech is an excellent choice for your trip to Stow-on-the-Wold.
The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.

Upon arrival the cottage was squeaky clean and very well equipped - the welcome basket and milk in the fridge was a nice touch, thank you! We stayed for three nights and by the end, none of us wanted to leave. I would definitely recommend Copperbeech Cottage and I hope I get to stay there again. Thank you!

Such a great landing pad for exploring the local area but also having cozy evening enjoying the garden or company around the kitchen table. Everything we needed was there and it was an absolute delight. Parking on the street was tough to find but the nearby parking community lot made for easy overnight parking

It looks amazing on the website. Sadly it is nowhere close in its current state. The owners have allowed it to fall into disrepair and the cleanliness is way below what we would expect for the price. The following were noted: Front door is warped, difficult to close from outside. Fireplace lacks the tools to make cleaning easy. Fireplace was dirty on arrival. Had to call for firewood starter and wood basket. L/R carpet needs steam cleaning. L/R sofas are worn and faded. Front door curtains were stained. Kitchen glassware was covered in a film of grease. Oven hadnât been cleaned and first use resulted in smoke pouring out due to grease under foil in broiler pan. Cobwebs throughout property. Downstairs sink hot water tap doesnât fully open. Garden furniture needs repairing. Garden sun room stinks. Back door lock loose. Earwigs everywhere. All shower fittings leaked in all baths/showers causing flooding on the floor in the top bathroom. These are just the things we can remember. Finally, we were informed by Sykes that there would be a horse fair during our stay. We werenât told the true nature of the fair and assumed it was for the wealthy horse-set and would be fun to witness. We were also told parking could be difficult but there was always the adjacent car park. The fair is a Travelers market. The local pub, as well as many of the shops and restaurants close for the entire week due to the bad behavior of some of those attending the fair. The local police advised us to leave, but if unable to do so stay locked in the house. All the locals gave us the same advice as did the local council. The car park was locked for the whole week. Any cars left in there would be locked in the entire week. Upon asking to leave early the owner tried to argue that the fair is a lovely event but all the advice received from the police, council and locals was to get out, which we did. In fairness, we did get refunded for the three nights we missed out on. I would not recommend this property until it has had a major clean and all the broken items repaired.
