About this property

Heckington 3.6 miles. Resting in the quiet village of Ewerby, just a short drive from Heckington, lies this charming, one-bedroom holiday home, The Asparagus Shed. Boasting a delightful, brick-clad exterior, off-road parking, crisp interiors with well-preserved features throughout, this property welcomes a couple seeking a refreshing escape to the heart of rural Lincolnshire. The Asparagus shed is part of a working farm and as the name suggests was formally used for washing, grading and bunching asparagus ready to be sold. It is situated on a quiet lane with stunning views across to the large 13th century church. There are several country walks accessed directly from your door and the village pub, The Finch Hatton Arms, is just a short walk away.

If you can remove yourself from your tranquil new lodgings, be sure to explore some of what your local area has to offer after you’ve finished your morning coffee in the peaceful courtyard by first stopping into nearby Heckington, where you can stock up on supplies at the Co-Op, enjoy a pub lunch at the Royal Oak or a local beer at the 8 Sail Brewery next to the Heckington Windmill.

If you want to make a day of it the city of Lincoln is accessible by car, and home to attractions such as the stunning historical landmarks of Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle (including Magna Carta), the inspiring Bomber Command Centre and the wonderful Doddington Hall.

Heckington, a charming small village in the North Kesteven region of Lincolnshire, is home to a Grade I listed church and a windmill that hosts events and activities. There is a shop, a selection of pubs and restaurants, a swimming pool, and two cafés among the amenities. Moreover, Heckington is home to the only operational eight-sailed windmill in the world, and the community once a year holds the Heckington Show for families. The attractive towns of Boston and Grantham nearby offer a greater selection of high-quality amenities, while the magnificent city of Lincoln is a little more away but well worth the drive. This is the second time that we have stayed at The Asparagus Shed and I am sure that we will return in the future

The Asparagus Shed is very well appointed, comfortable, clean and warm - and - so quiet!! A couple of points, could you offer a pillow option as you do the duvets? The pillows were very hard, too hard for us (I always travel with a pillow) and with softer pillows our sleep would have been so much better. There were also no instructions on where to leave recycling outside (apart from glass) when vacating the property. Another bin at the side for this would be helpful. We ended up taking recycling and composting home with us. However all in all a very relaxing short break and we would thoroughly recommend The Asparagus Shed.
