What our customers say about their holidays

The Asparagus Shed is a perfect place for a couple to spend a week's holiday.

The property is very spacious, clean, tidy and comfortable, with all that you would require, along with milk in the fridge and a nice plumb cake as a welcome gift. Make sure you read the book on the shelf about the village occupants, a very interesting piece of local, social and recent history. I think it was a Wednesday morning – the church opposite, St Andrews, has an open invitation to go in for a chat, biscuits round the table but take your own coffee and pick up some local knowledge. The village is small and quiet but nicely placed for trips out by car. We had a couple of meals out at the Finch Hatton Hotel, a friendly local feeling place with nice food, drink and it is dog friendly. Movie buffs may notice the name, Finch Hatton, the film Out of Africa with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford has links to the local Earldom of Winchilsea and the, now derelict family seat of Haverholme Priory. Out and about. We visited the National Trust properties at Belton House Estate – a spectacular mansion and gardens, it was used as a filming location for the Netflix series Bridgerton, about 17 miles drive. Tattershall Castle – very well preserved / renovated castle with fantastic views, about 12 miles drive. Along with trips to the windmill at Heckington, well worth the climb and enquire about stepping out onto the external walkway - we opted for an 8 mile return walk there but with hindsight I should have driven as there is also a brewery there! At Sleaford there is also Cogglesford Mill, a still working water driven four mill and their flour is for sale. There is an abundance of WW2 RAF history in the area. Additionally, most days, there is something of the current RAF in the air. Woodhall Spa is also a very nice town to visit. Don’t be put off by reports of Lincolnshire being flat and featureless, it’s a change from other parts of the UK and quite a pleasant place to drive around and in my mind feels very much like Normandy, as being agricultural with far reaching views, dotted with small villages with large church spires. The Asparagus Shed, Ewerby – a very, very nice place to stay.

What can I say the place was amazingly clean and with such comfortable furnishings.

It is a spacious and comfortable. The setting was so peaceful and lovely. Beautiful architectural lighting to show off the vaulted ceiling and internal pillars ( no expense speared which add to the look and feel of the tasteful renavation . A short walk to a beautifully restaurant, the Finch Hatten, that have some lovely well priced meals. A lovely place We didn’t want to leave. The bed was comfortable the very large bathroom with a rainfall shower was amazing. The toiletries were amazing and high quality. The recycling was also incredibly good as we do like to do our bit but not everywhere always you to recycle. All cleaning products were there in case you needed anything. We would highly recommend this property. The off road parking was also fantastic. If I have slight negative it is, as you do not have a dishwasher I would have liked to have a draining board so the beautiful wooden work surface which is incredibly beautiful. It could do with a drinks fridge as the fridge is small. Ok if you are staying for a weekend but if you stay for a week the small fridge is a little small. Also the ironing board could have been full size again a something when you stay longer than a weekend and also a retractable washing line we say this are we are touring and walking around the U.K.

We have just returned from a week at this fabulous holiday home.

The garden is exceptional and completely secure - I think the dogs thought their Christmases had come all at once with the amount of space to run around in. It also has multiple seating areas, a BBQ, and the hot tub was an absolute bonus and loved by us humans. Only things to note are you have no back door directly for access into the garden, but this isn't an issue at all as it is a short distance from the door to gate and it is completely secure, and we were unlucky that the mosquitoes were out in force so make use of the repellent in the house. The hosts are on hand if you need them but very respectful and you have complete privacy if you choose. Louise was very kind to agree to allow us into Lincoln one day, leaving the dogs behind for a couple of hours which exceeded our expectations. The living area is cosy and we made good use of the log burner. The Co-op across the road was ideal for last minute bits. We had lovely walks through Rimac Nature Reserve and other local areas. We also must recommend Appleby's for their delicious ice cream. It was a lovely peaceful holiday made perfect by this wonderful cottage.

      Lovely cottage, nicely equipped.

Although small it feels spacious and was very clean, warm and always hot water available. Welcome treats were much appreciated. Cottage is situated on a quiet lane frequented by horse riders and dog walkers mainly. There is seating outside but the wall is low so you do feel a bit overlooked. A few observations and suggestions for improvement, none of which would deter me from revisiting: 1. Some grab rails in the shower are much needed. The cottage is suitable for those with mobility needs except in this very important regard. Handles with suction cups could be provided for tenants to deploy if the owner does not want to fix permanently. 2. There are buckets for plastic, paper and card recycling but not glass! Where does glass go? 3. Please put some indication of where to find cutlery. It is in a sub drawer in another drawer. It is labelled but not immediately obvious - it took me 20 minutes to find it

      An amazing find.

accommodation totally private and quiet set in a very short distance from the wolds that offers an abundance of walking footpaths and bridleways Woodlands vast open fields in such beautiful countryside. Also just a 2 minute walk into town that offers everything. Amazing tranquil villages offering pub food. Further afield you have wonderful dog friendly beaches that we found to be so clean. Really something for everyone from museums to fun parks to peace and quite of the countryside. Then back to the accommodation that we found to be home from home withvtge added bonus of the hot tub really there was nothing to find fault about the hosts were there but if required but very private. We thoroughly enjoyed a well needed quiet break with our 2 spaniels that loved every moment and have returned home very tired from their explorations. Thankyou xxx
