What our customers say about their holidays

    • Antony - Verified booking

Highly dissatisfied with our weeks stay at church view.

Sofas are incredibly uncomfortable, luckily there was a tv in the bedroom, we spent evenings watching tv in bed. The hot tub added a lovely touch to our stay, however, this is extremely dirty and full of flies, when I asked the reception team for a net, they said the hot tub guy will be round to clean it and suck the flies out, he did come round to the lodge, unfortunately only flicking a few out. On our first night, we had a small issue with the plug in the bath getting stuck and we were told by maintenance team to simply use the public showers outside if this weren’t fixable, I was immediately taken back by this as I would have booked a camping trip at a cheaper price! We have previously stayed in other lodges on site which we were very happy with, as per our re visit now with a dog. Church view is actually a lodge split in half, divided by just a door with reception, I didn’t have a problem with this, as stated in the description upon booking, however, they charge just as much for this as they do for the other lodges. The worst part of our stay had to be the awful burning smell from the industrial building across from the lodge, this is super intense and meant we couldn’t even use the garden, we were lucky to have a lovely hot week (30 degrees plus), and felt VERY disheartened that using the garden was made impossible without coughing, not to mention horrible for our dogs health! Although, sitting in the garden was extremely uncomfortable anyway due to the wooden furniture, sunloungers may as well not even be in place, horrendous comfort! Cafe food is worth the star I have given, incredible food and reasonably priced. Won’t be returning!

Beautifully presented lodge, on a quite secluded site.

Only a short walk in to the village and a short drive to Oakham. The lodge was lovely and clean for arrival. The host provided a lovely welcome pack of tea, coffee, coffee pods for the coffee machine, prosecco and fresh eggs. The lodge was extremely well equipped with tv's in both the lounge and bedroom, CD player/radio, Wi-Fi access and a well equipped kitchen, with induction hob, double oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine as well as kettle, dolce gusto coffee machine and toaster. Also provided was a cleaning hamper with cleaning products, washing up sponge, cloth and dishwasher tablets. The bed was extremely comfortable and a fan is provided for those warmer nights. The bathroom was well equipped with a over the bath shower which is both hot and very powerful, with plenty of towels provided and fresh bath robes. The hottub was fantastic, well maintained and hot for arrival and maintained daily during our stay. The patio area also had table and chairs with a parasol, sun loungers and a bbq. Despite other reviews about noise with this lodge being attached to the reception building we had no complaints, yes you could hear a bit of chatter and laughter from reception, I wouldn't consider it noisy, and this was only between 8am-6pm not early in the morning and late at night and we found it extremely peaceful. Will definitely be returning again.

Nuce welcome hamper on arrival I am always honest in my reviews as i rely on others' to book my holidays.

Very dissapointed with no wifi, needed it to check work emails but when i went into reception twice and said the wifi wont connect i was told it was "nothing to do with us" and to just try it outside and see if it works The Hot tub cover was broken and very heavy so impossible to lift over on my own - the pole that you pull it off with was broken and not attached to the cover so was extremely difficult to take the top off, had to just take half off and leave half on The outdoor bulb was popped so i went to reception to say i needed it for the hot tub when it gets dark. They came to fix it however it still did not work, so i went back to reception to say it still doesnt work but nothing was done about this The lodge is actually only half the size , the other half is reception and i wasnt aware of this. Lodge was in a completely different place to the 'luxury lodges' which was a massive let down for me as i wouldnt have booked if i knew it was attached to reception Interior door in the living room leads to the reception but is locked, and can hear everything which was not ideal Terrible bedding and lighting in all rooms Nice and clean but will not be returning

This lodge had everything that we needed and some we were not expecting like the coffee machine.

We were lucky with the winter weather in that even though it was very cold outside we only had a few hours of rain. The lodge was very warm so was very welcoming after a walk at Rutland water which is only 15 minutes drive away. The on-site cafe was not open for us but was reopening mid Feb I believe so we can’t comment on that. The lodge is on a camping and caravan site which was very clean and tidy and despite it being January had quite a few touring caravans for the weekend. The lodges are separate and all 7 have their own private High fenced garden That was not overlooked allowing privacy when using the hot tub. The village and nearest pub the plough is only a 5 to 10 minutes walk and did lovely food and welcoming staff. There is also another pub that was a further 5 minutes walk , cannot comment on the food as we only had a drink. The welcome hamper was a nice touch and appreciated. The only suggestion to visitors is to make sure you take a torch as when it gets dark it is a very dark walk back from the village pub. We have both said that we will return. The only suggestion for the lodge is perhaps something to put muddy boots on.

A lovely lodge, comfy beds, great staff very friendly.

The only problems we had was 1) The BBQ wasn’t clean. We wanted to use it so we decided to clean it ourselves but the produce on the grill would not budget so we cooked our food in the oven. 2) there wasn’t enough Pyrex dishes for the oven, it was okay as there was only 2 of us but the lodge can sleep up to 6 people (2 sofa beds) I think it needs some more dishes/ utensils. The hot tub was cleaned 2 times when we was there which is great! The cafe is 3 steps away and does lovely food. I would point out that it is attached to the reception so you can hear everything being said over there. The pool was okay was dirty along the walk ways as people didn’t take off their shoes. Make sure to go out the back of the site. Google takes you through the farm (we went that way) it is full of steel and wood ect so can end up with popped tyres! Other than that a good stay and we would come back again.
