Brook Lodge is one of five detached luxury lodges located in idyllic countryside on the Wakes Hall Estate in the breath-taking Colne Valley on the Essex/Suffolk border. On the same site is Endymion Lodge, Campion Lodge, Ramson Lodge and Woodbell Lodge. Each lodge boasts a verandah and a soothing hot tub, surrounded by 500 acres of land and walks to the village of Wakes Colne. The historic town of Colchester is 40 minutes away.
Wakes Hall Lodges offer the perfect place to escape the city or your hectic lives. Nature lovers will have a wonderful time taking in the stunning flora and fauna of the delightful countryside. As well as a fishing lake stocked with Carp and Roach, there are an endless number of woodland walks to explore, including the neighbouring willow woodland where the trees are farmed to make cricket bats.
Visitors often enjoy a short amble to the local village where there is a shop and post office and a picturesque pub beside the River Colne serving locally brewed beer. Local beauty salons provide a full range of services for visitors to the lodges, and for those looking for an extra special treat, we can arrange for a fully trained chef to serve up a delectable feast from the comfort of your lodge.

What a fantastic place. We booked to go for 4 days after getting married as a mini moon. Perfect place to relax, we walked for miles during the day. Then came back at pizza from the local pub and chilled in the hot tub. We will certainly be going back.

Set at the end of a mile long drive, you feel completely disconnected from the rest of the world, although amenities are close by including pubs and shops. We stopped at the Good Food Company, a high end deli in Marks Tey, well worth a visit. The lodge comes with everything you need; the kitchen is wonderful for cooking with the large island in the centre. Loved the spacious bathroom with enormous tub and walk in shower, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We were fortunate to have fantastic weather, literally wall to wall sunshine all week and spent every daylight hour on the huge secure deck when we weren't out walking the dogs. The hot tub is gorgeous, really warm and hidden from view. All was spot on when we arrived; exceptionally clean and good local guides and menu. We had a fantastic week and want to go back. Next time we plan to visit the Wilkins factory in Tiptree which is just a few miles away.

Just back from three nights in Brook Lodge and we absolutely loved it. Marianne the housekeeper is lovely, so friendly and helpful and the lodges are spotless. We have stayed in a few dog friendly self catering places with a hot tub and this is by far the best. Modern and spacious but warm and cosy at the same time. The bed is soooo comfortable and the linens are cool, crisp cotton - pure luxury. Wonderful bathroom with both the shower and bath tub big enough for two! A well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher which is a bonus. And the hot tub, what more can I say? Pure bliss after a long dog walk in Chalkney Woods. Can't wait to go back.
