The scenic 10 mile walk around the lake provides many memorable highlights, with Surprise View and Lodore Falls just a mile to the south, and the thriving town of Keswick to the north (2.5 miles). Keswick is home to a range of great places to eat and drink, as well as popular attractions including the Derwent Pencil Museum, the Puzzling Place and Castlerigg Stone Circle. Climbers can head to local peaks including Dale Head (6 miles) and Grisedale Pike (7 miles). Several other lakes are within easy reach including Bassenthwaite Lake (6.5 miles), Buttermere (9.5 miles) and Crummock Water (11.5 miles). Three gentle steps lead up from the road and onto the path leading to the cottage.
