The village of Far Sawrey has a pub/restaurant, whilst Bowness, with all its shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, is just a short distance across the lake by ferry. Also close by is ‘Hill Top’, once the home of Beatrix Potter, and Hawkshead with its picturesque 17th century cottages. Footpaths lead from the village to Claife Heights - a noted beauty spot of forests and tarns. Watersports are close at hand on Windermere, along with Lake Cruises and the majestic Wray Castle to admire. Fishing can be enjoyed on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.

The rooms are spacious but cosy and they all have amazing views of the lake. We found the property was very clean and well equipped. We really appreciated the hamper of handpicked local produce. Excellent place to stay. Would definitely recommend!

Unfortunately things wear and deteriorate. There were many lights not working and saw on feedback that this had been mentioned months ago! No scissors, cutlery wasnât clean and sink and bowl need a good clean.

It was open and bright, and modern whilst keeping its traditional charm. Weâd recommend it for these reasons. Unfortunately, it wasnât cleaned properly before we arrived. The floors were dirty, and there were cobwebs in the windows and on the ceiling. Many of the towels were stained. It would also be helpful to provide guest soaps, etc. in the bathrooms.
