Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. There were items on bathroom cabinet belonging to previous guest. Not cleaned either side of bathroom sink and the bin next to toilet looks filthy dirty. Heaters in main room not working but wall heaters were sufficient.

Only some minutes to the village with cafés and shops, the café of the museum just around the corner. In an hour around Rydal Water to Ambleside with even more possibilies. This was my second stay here, after 2016 and 2022 near Keswick. I can really recommend this studio, very well equipped, and with many tours right from the front door. Don't miss the Coffin Trail and a walk in White Moss.
