      Overflowing with charm and character

If you're considering booking The Little Cottage, by all means, do. The pictures and video simply do not do it justice. Perfectly charming and cosy, The Little Cottage an incredible local art collection. It's as if you're staying in a gallery, minus the stuffiness. The owners have clearly poured heart and soul into every detail, and it doesn't go unnoticed. If you're interested in Beatrix Potter, the cottage is also home to a collection of discrete character paraphernalia, from Squirrel Nutkin references sprinkled throughout the house to an endearing selection of character garden sculptures in the back garden. Excellent (and responsive) heating in winter, comfortable beds, and well stocked and appointed kitchen and amenities. The boot room with drying rack is a plus, as is the star gazing-friendly hot tub. Take care with parking if you're in a large vehicle, as parking is tight (for long vehicles) and can take some maneuvering, as with many areas in the Lake District. Otherwise fantastic location close to Ambelside and Grasmere. Take note the owners' recommendations in the welcome book in the cottage--they've many spot-on recommendations for the area. Prompt and clear communication with Dan the owner--we'll be returning!

      Outstanding ..

It’s been said but The Little Cottage is a unique find, it’s quality of finish is genuinely exceptional and Dan made the entire experience from first enquiry email, through the booking process to post holiday a real pleasure. The cottage is beautifully appointed, it’s facilities and quality of every element are just a cut above. The garden is a delight and the hot tub welcomed. Everything is “as new” and every pot pan, utensil and appliance of exceptional brand and quality. My family and I visited in August, 2 children and dog, and whilst it is a cottage it’s use of colour, furniture never and it’s clever outside room and space never left us on top of one another. The area itself is idyllic a true find in the U.K. and walks, cycling and water sports are all on your doorstep. The Britannia Inn which is a minute from your door serves superb food and has a quiet happy buzz about it and you get to people watch all the days day walkers making it down from the numerous passes that meet in the village. What can we say 5 stars all the way..

Fantastic location for this Lakeland Gem.

Very well located and furnished to a very high standard. The owners were really helpful and very kind even leaving a breakfast pack and lots of extras. The location was superb near to the Langdale and close to Ambleside. There are some great local amenities with a popular pub next door (although there was no noise) and a local shop within walking distance. The cottage was hugely well equipped and everything had been thought through. It had a very nice garden with hot tub at the back which we used. Pros: location, quality, facilities, comfort. Cons: Parking could be a bit tricky but is okay otherwise none. Highly recommended.

      One of our favourite holidays!

Myself, my husband, my son and our dog had an absolutely fantastic holiday. The Little Cottage is in the perfect location, with a pub and cafe on its doorstep, and then the walks from the cottage were great. We spent the evenings skimming stones on the river, and my dog literally had the best holiday of her life. You couldn’t ask for more from the cottage (maybe another key as we were paranoid about losing it). The cottage smelt great, looked great (of course), equipped with everything and felt so homely.

A home from home (but better)

The house is impeccably decorated and finished to the highest standard. We settled in right away with it’s cosy feel and all the practicalities had been thought of. Lovely location for exploring the area. Couldn’t recommend enough. Stylish and practical, a home from home (but better).
