Guests generally appreciate the cottage's excellent location for exploring the Lakes, its comfortable beds, and the peaceful setting. The property is spacious and well-equipped, with a variety of entertainment options for rainy days. While some guests mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance, these are not universal experiences.
Cleanliness scores are mixed, with several guests finding the property well-kept, while others report issues with cobwebs, spiders, and general cleanliness. Some guests suggest the need for a deep clean, indicating room for improvement in this area.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to Kendal, and easy access to the Lake District and other attractions. The scenic views and peaceful environment contribute to a positive experience.
Comfort is frequently commended, with guests enjoying the quality of the beds and linen. However, some mention issues with hot water supply and light curtains affecting sleep, slightly lowering the score.
Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and entertainment options. However, maintenance issues like problematic locks, broken bathroom fixtures, and heating problems are noted, affecting the score.
While some guests mention welcome gifts and thoughtful touches, there are inconsistent reports about their presence, and it is not clear if these are standard. Therefore, it is politely noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.
This superb end-terrace cottage, formerly the grain store for the original neighbouring farm, has been converted into a stylish and extremely comfortable cottage located just outside the auld grey town of Kendal. This lovely cottage makes an ideal base for exploring the heart of the Lake District. From the well-equipped kitchen, where you can prepare sumptuous meals, adjourn to the bright and airy sitting room, which has French doors opening out onto a lovely patio area, or why not relax with a refreshing drink and dine alfresco? With three comfortable bedrooms, two king-size doubles on the first floor and a family room with a king-size double and a single on the second floor, the cottage is perfect for a family holiday. The two family bathrooms, one on the first floor and one on the second have been thoughtfully equipped to ensure your stay is perfect. Outside, there is an enclosed courtyard, a patio and a lawn, so everyone should be able to find a quiet corner to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. This lovely cottage has the benefit of being close to the market town of Kendal, with its interesting quaint shops and restaurants hidden down ginnels and yards, and is also right on the edge of the Lake District National Park with Lake Windermere just fifteen minutes drive away. The popular towns of Ambleside and Windermere are within easy reach and for a great day out in the refreshing Cumbrian air, and why not lace up your walking boots and hike up the Kentmere Valley? After a bracing walk up this enchanting valley you can taste the delights in one of the excellent pubs or enjoy a glass of local Hawkshead Brewery ale in the Beer Hall at Staveley. This valley is also a favourite for mountain bikers and this lovely cottage has ample storage for bikes and drying facilities for wet gear. As the magic of Cumbria weaves its way into your heart, you will be enchanted by this fascinating area, and only leave wishing you were staying longer!
An historic Lakeland town with a fine reputation for shopping, Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent and is known as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th Century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Visit The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, its regular collection holding portraits by Kendal born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate.

The kitchen was dirty, especially the oven and the pots. The heating was very loud, the dryer didn't work properly. The high chair and baby bed were old and dirty.

We were disappointed by the general appearance, ie ripped chair in lounge, broken shelf in fridge, lots of the crockery/glasses chipped and some were sticky. It felt like we were at the end of a season and faults would be fixed after we left. Lots of properties we have used have a welcome pack, we were met by a basket of left over open packets with a stern petty warning to replace anything used. It didn't feel like the home from home that we are used to.

The house is warm and cosy with lovely beds. Lots of extras like computer games and board games if needed. Thank you we had a lovely stay.
