Guests say

High Pike in Ambleside is a well-regarded apartment with many guests praising its comfort, location, and thoughtful touches. While some minor issues were noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with guests looking forward to return visits.

Most guests found High Pike very clean, with only a few isolated comments about dust and mould. The majority of reviews reflect a high standard of cleanliness, hence the high score.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to local amenities and scenic views. The steep path to the town was mentioned, but overall, guests were delighted with the location.

Guests frequently mentioned the comfort of the apartment, noting the quality of the mattress and furnishings. A few mentioned a squeaky bed and desire for a TV in the bedroom, but these were minor compared to the overall comfort experienced.

Facilities are generally well-received, with positive remarks about the kitchen and bathrooms. Some guests noted issues with parking, missing kitchen items, and maintenance needs, which slightly lowers the score.

While guests appreciated the overall experience, there were no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

High Pike is a spacious ground floor apartment within the prestigious Lakelands Development set in an elevated position only a very short walk from the centre of the village of Ambleside. With stunning views towards Fairfield Horseshoe and Loughrigg from both the lounge and patio, and Waterhead at the northern tip of Lake Windermere is a ten minute walk away, its a fabulous location. High Pike offers comfortable, quality accommodation, in a great, convenient location, with walks from the door making it a popular choice all year round. Easily accessible on the northern shores of Lake Windermere, Ambleside is a contemporary, characterful Lakeland village with a spectacular backdrop of Lake District fells. The location is ideal for walking in the Lake District, with many renowned routes beginning in and around the village. But Ambleside is also a popular choice for a relaxed, slow-paced holiday. Contemporary shops, leisurely lake cruises, acclaimed Lake District restaurants and cosy traditional pubs make the village centre a delight at any time of year.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

In terms of maintenance a striped line might be a good idea from the lift to the apartments on the step down. Step notice is very small on the door. Parking was a bit of a nightmare especially as space for No 20 is next door to flower bed and with work going on opposite nearly impossible to park.

Slightly nicer pillows on bed would be good, otherwise very comfortable.

We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed trips out or walking as always. The apartment was as good as ever and a tree in front of the hedge overlooked from lounge window was coppiced while we were there which made views even more extensive! Thanks again.
