Scafell is a well-liked apartment in Ambleside, praised for its stunning views, spaciousness, and central location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and the bonus of parking. While some find the decor dated, the property's charm and convenience for walkers are highlighted. The presence of games and books adds to the enjoyment of stays.
Reviews indicate a generally clean environment, though some guests noted issues with dog hair, dust, and a musty smell in certain areas. These seem to be isolated incidents, as others found the property tidy upon arrival.
The apartment's location is highly praised for being central and convenient, with easy access to local amenities and walks. The views of the fells are also appreciated, although some guests noted traffic noise.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces spacious. However, some reviews mention the property being potentially hazardous for toddlers and the need for modernisation in the lounge area.
The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, and guests enjoy the selection of games and books. If you're looking for a little taste of Lakeland grandeur. Scafell is a spacious apartment within a magnificent 16th century gentleman's residence, 5 minutes walk from Ambleside. Ground floor private entrance with space for walking gear & bikes. Lovely staircase leads to the 1st floor apartment, into an elegant open plan lounge and dining room, with huge Georgian windows, a small viewing balcony & fabulous fell views. The modern kitchen offers views towards the Fairfield Horseshoe. Both luxurious bedrooms have a bathroom each too. 1 pet dog is welcome and babies and children too. Private parking right outside. Ambleside is a contemporary, characterful Lakeland village with a spectacular backdrop of Lake District fells. Ideal for walking, cycling or boating activities, it is also a lovely spot for contemporary shops, leisurely lake cruises, award-winning Lake District restaurants and cosy traditional pubs. There are 2 cinemas, a Jazz bar and the Lake Cruises leave regularly from Waterhead, a great way to explore without driving. The tiny 'Bridge House' is one of the most photographed places here, sat on a bridge in the middle of the village. Oh, and don’t forget our Roman fort, Galava. One of William Wordsworth's former family homes can be visited nearby at Rydal Mount & Gardens. His Grasmere home, Dove Cottage, is also worth a visit and only a short drive away on the scenic A591. You can also head over the equally scenic Kirkstone Pass to the beautiful Ullswater Valley.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

TV no signal and no Netflix? Internet issues with speed, and possible problems with Ariel / dish post sever weather. Excellent central location for a Ambleside with parking and the apartment was warm and comfortable.

Comfortable and well equipped kitchen. A little precarious having shower in bath as shower head keeps moving and no screen over window. Also could do with a grab rail as high side. Also step on landing/ hall hazardous as carpet dark so not well defined.Otherwise we loved our stay and will book again.

. only issues were : vacuum cleaner would not pick up dog hairs and main bedroom could do with either blackout linings or blackout blind.
