Felldale is a well-loved cottage in Glenridding, praised for its stunning views and excellent location for walking and enjoying the natural beauty of the Lake District. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, the cosy fire, and the wildlife encounters. While some minor maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests eager to return.
Cleanliness has been mentioned with mixed feedback. Some guests found the property to be not as clean as expected, with specific references to damp linen, an unclean oven, and a smelly bathroom. However, others did not raise cleanliness as an issue, suggesting that experiences may vary.
The location is highly praised for its breathtaking views and proximity to walking trails and local pubs. The natural surroundings and wildlife add to the charm, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the beds comfy and the fire warming. However, some guests mentioned uncomfortable sofas and inadequate bedding on colder nights, which slightly affects the overall comfort score.
Facilities are considered good, with a well-equipped kitchen and spacious living areas. Some guests suggested improvements such as more cutlery and larger pans. Maintenance issues like a broken gate and shower button were noted, but these were minor and did not significantly detract from the overall experience.
While a welcome hamper was mentioned and appreciated, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of thoughtfulness across all stays. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such gifts will be provided for every guest.

The bustling market town of Penrith, once the capital of Cumbria, enjoys a central position between the Lake District and North Pennines and is ideally placed for taking in all that the region has to offer. Renowned for its wealth of specialist shops, the sandstone buildings of Penrith hide intriguing yards, lanes and alleyways, with a myriad of attractive cottages, gardens and little shops. With a wide choice of excellent pubs, hotels, restaurants and entertainment, Penrith also offers a museum, and Millennium Trails round the historic city streets. Within easy reach of the town is Rheged – an innovative visitor centre with shops, restaurants, exhibitions and a giant cinema screen showing educational and informative films. Brougham Castle (The Windsor of the North), Long Meg and her daughters (the 3rd largest stone circle in England) and the historic city of Carlisle are all a short drive away, as is the stunning scenery of both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

It was however let down by the lack of comfort in the sofas which have seen better days and are difficult to get up from especially if you are of advancing years. There were a couple of cold nights whilst we were there and we found the bedding to be inadequate leaving us chilled. We couldnât find the keys to the doors for the large room at the rear of the property and the back door in the utility area was awkward to open and then lock. Thank you for the welcome hamper, which was greatly appreciated and overall we did have a good week at this bungalow, which is lovelyâ¦.

Felldale has everything you need for a holiday. I actually found the sofas in the front lounge to be very comfortable although a tad challenging to get out off. And as others had said it is a bit worrying at first to see pale carpets in a dog friendly cottage, but this was not an actual issue. I did find the washing machine instructions totally baffling and an idiots guide to how to wash and dry a load would have been greatly appreciated, but that could just be me. All in all a great stay which I totally enjoyed, those views are just amazing. Thank you for letting us stay.

The cottage was in a beautiful area and the views where absolutely stunning. The only down sides to the cottage was that the leather setter in the front lounge area was not very comfy and needed to replaced as it was beyond its sell by date. It was also a shame that the lounge area at the back of the property was not very user friendly. It could do with a larger Tele and a more comfortable sitting area. The room was a stunning room and it seemed to be wasted. After saying all that we will be back next year.
