Snaptrip says

Guests generally appreciate the cottage's idyllic location, with its proximity to lakes and walking paths, and its cosy, homely atmosphere. The garden and surrounding views are frequently praised, and the presence of wildlife like red squirrels adds to the charm. Some guests mention issues with maintenance and facilities, but the unique character and peaceful setting of the cottage often outweigh these concerns.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage's cleanliness receives mixed reviews. While some guests found it comfortable and homely, others noted areas that could be improved, such as a greasy kitchen and mould in the bathroom. However, these comments are not consistent across all reviews.

The location is highly praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and access to nature, with many guests enjoying the walks and the proximity to the lake. The remote setting is considered a significant asset, despite some comments about the challenging access by road.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with mentions of a cosy atmosphere and a comfortable lounge. However, some guests found the beds too hard or unusually low, and there were comments about the heating system being inadequate, which suggests room for improvement.

Facilities are adequate but several guests encountered issues such as problems with the TV signal, electrical sockets tripping, and a blocked chimney. While the cottage is equipped with necessary amenities, maintenance issues have affected the overall experience.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed.

Mould in the bathroom under the sink. Really, really needs improving.

We will definitely be back at some point.

The heating seems a bit strange (bathroom on all the time) but - Great location for a quiet retreat if you go prepared with provisions. Lovely the hear the birdsong along with glimpses of the squirrels. The pictures give an accurate representation of what to expect.
