Townhead Farmhouse is a charming, rustic property praised for its stunning location in Cumbria, ideal for nature lovers and walkers. Guests appreciate the spacious, comfortable rooms and the well-equipped kitchen. The outdoor areas offer serene spots for relaxation amidst beautiful scenery, with wildlife sightings adding to the experience. While some guests noted the property's decor as tired and in need of TLC, the overall sentiment is one of warmth and cosiness, with many expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found the farmhouse to be clean and welcoming. However, a few mentioned issues such as dust on skirting boards and a layer of dirt in some areas, which suggests room for improvement in thoroughness.

The location is highly praised for its peace, quiet, and natural beauty, with easy access to walks and the lake. The presence of wildlife and the proximity to nature trails contribute to its high rating.

Guests generally found the farmhouse to be cosy and comfortable, with spacious rooms and a well-stocked kitchen. The presence of wood-burning stoves and comfortable beds were frequently mentioned, although some noted the decor as feeling tired.

The property is well-equipped for self-catering, with a good kitchen and comfortable living spaces. Some guests experienced issues with heating and the TV, and there were comments about the need for maintenance in some areas.

While guests mentioned a welcome pack and the provision of logs for the fire, there were no consistent references to gifts or special touches that would indicate a standard of thoughtfulness. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

About this property

A semi-detached, stone, character cottage with barn in the hamlet of Sandwick. This spacious property is close to the lake and is perfect for walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and those seeking peace and tranquillity. There's two dining areas at this cottage with beams and cast iron radiators, and one even has the bonus of a large woodburner. Also on the ground floor is a lovely sitting room with open woodburner, and this cottage is in a glorious location with garden, and many walks from the doorstep. Note: This cottage is next to Ref. 927735, together they sleep 8.

The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed.

It even had house martins and swallows nesting around the property to complete my happiness.
