Greenhowes cottage in Ulverston offers a relaxing stay with fabulous surroundings, including access to lakeside walks and a pool. Guests appreciate the property's spaciousness, convenient on-site farm shop, and the warm welcome from staff. While some find the cottage and its facilities in need of updates and maintenance, the charm of the location and the quality of the bedding and towels are noted positives.
The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests found it very clean, while others noted stained carpets and unhygienic aspects. Regular maintenance could improve perceptions of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience, with easy access to local attractions and nature. It's considered a highlight and a strong point of the property.
Comfort levels are seen as adequate with comfy beds mentioned, but some guests reported issues with heating and poorly fitted toilet seats, suggesting room for improvement.
Facilities like the pool are appreciated, but there are several reports of maintenance issues such as broken appliances and the need for refurbishment. The pool's cleanliness and changing facilities were also criticised.
There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as gifts are not consistently mentioned. While there is a reference to milk on arrival, it's unclear if this is a standard offering or an isolated incident.
A welcoming terraced cottage set in a row of four, occupying a superb position in the central courtyard on the wonderful Graythwaite Estate. With excellent facilities including an indoor swimming pool, table tennis and play area on the doorstep, this Lake District cottage makes a great family base for spending time together exploring the estate or venturing out to the Lake District beyond.

Very dirty, wardrobe not usable/ dusty, mould in bathroom. Not suitable for showering, dust everywhere. The shared swimming pool is very mouldy. The estate owners were not responsive when we complained but eventually settled our dissatisfaction

Sykes did not answer a single enquiry. It's all a very impersonal process, entirely computer generated. As for Greenhowes, it seemed overpriced, but perhaps that's just the Lake District especially in the time of Covid. The property is badly in need of refurbishment. None of the internal doors close properly, especially the toilets. Carpets in the toilets seems unhygienic. The kitchen is not very well stocked. The dishwasher needs replacing, since the two racks do not stay on their runners, with plates crashing everywhere when they are pulled out. Pool and shop were not open as often as claimed. For the price, I expected something better.

Enjoyed being able to use the pool and having a farm shop on site was very convenient.
