Guests say

The Lodge in Ulverston is highly praised for its excellent location, quality refurbishment, and spaciousness, accommodating adults, children, and pets with ease. Guests appreciate the attentive host, Tash, and the thoughtful touches like a welcome pack and logs for the fire. Despite a power cut, the hosts ensured a comfortable stay. The property's cleanliness, comfort, and facilities receive commendations, making it a recommended choice for a scenic and peaceful retreat.

Reviewers consistently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as 'very clean' and 'immaculate', indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout The Lodge.

The Lodge is celebrated for its scenic and peaceful setting, with easy access to local walks and a short drive to the Lakes. One mention of traffic noise, which is not heard indoors, slightly affects the score.

Guests find The Lodge very comfortable, with high-quality renovations, comfortable beds, and a cosy atmosphere enhanced by a log burner. The presence of en suite bathrooms for each generation adds to the comfort.

The high quality of fixtures, fittings, and furniture is noted, along with a well-stocked kitchen and a large TV. Suggestions for minor improvements, such as additional lamps, prevent a perfect score.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident through the welcome pack and responsiveness to guests' needs. Gifts like wine and muffins are mentioned, which are delightful surprises, though such gifts should not be expected with every stay.

The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. It was warm and spacious and suited our needs very much (3 generations of one family, and a large bouncy dog!). We especially loved having an en suite each, lots of space to cook, eat and play board games, the huge television and a log burner in the lounge, and very comfortable (and big!) beds. There are lots of walks and trails directly from The Lodge, and the coast and all the Lakes has to offer only a short drive. There’s a well stocked Budgens about a mile away so you don’t need to travel to stock up. There’s a little bit of traffic noise but you don’t hear this indoors at all. And Tash provided a warm welcome, great suggestions for visits and food, and was immediately responsive when we couldn’t get the heating to come on one evening. We loved it and will definitely be back!

The Lodge is immaculate and a fantastic location to explore the Lake District but with a bonus of fabulous local walks too.

If pressed to make any suggestions we would say a lamp or two in the sitting area of the kitchen/diner and a small grass area in the outside space for dogs to do their toilet. That said, we were very happy with The Lodge and it’s location and would definitely be happy to return!
