Guests say

The Grange in Windermere receives high praise for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and prime location with stunning views. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and the beautiful garden. The games room is popular among children and adults, despite some comments about its dated condition. The property is ideal for families and groups, offering a peaceful yet convenient setting close to local attractions.

Guests consistently note the property as spotlessly clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable and inviting stay.

The Grange is celebrated for its excellent location, offering tranquillity, proximity to Windermere and Bowness, and easy access to local walks and attractions.

The property is frequently described as comfortable and spacious, though a few guests noted preferences regarding mattress firmness, indicating comfort may be subjective.

Facilities are generally well-received, especially the well-equipped kitchen and garden. However, some feedback on the games room and minor maintenance issues slightly affect the score.

While guests are pleased with the amenities and the property's presentation, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts.

About this property

The Grange, a beautifully refurbished Gentlemen’s residence just a five minute stroll from the heart of the lively Windermere village, is the epitome of Lake District elegance. From inside the house, the sunny patio and lovely gardens, guests will wonder at the breath-taking views over Lake Windermere to the hills and mountains beyond. A view to make the heart sing.

The entrance hall, with stained glass windows and imposing guilt mirror, doubles as an elegant dining room in which to share more formal dinners and chat late into the night. Moving through to the spacious sitting room, or drawing room as it might have been, the fabulous bay window perfectly frames the spectacular views. Splendidly comfortable sofas are positioned around the original feature fireplace and wood burning stove, over which a further picture windows looking out onto the grounds. With plenty of space in which to spread out, guests will find this a wonderful space in which to relax at any time of day. The breakfast kitchen has its own wood burning stove and a sturdy farmhouse table, perfect for enjoying brunch, coffee and the papers. The house cellar is home to an ever popular games room with pool table, air hockey and DVD player. The Grange really does have it all.

Upstairs to the first floor and two of the three lovely bedrooms. The master suite comes with king size bed, French Antique furniture and en-suite shower. A further king size is extremely charming and also comes with an en-suite bathroom. Finally, up to ‘The Loft Suite’. The staircase divides this room into two distinct areas, one with a double bed and one with single and en-suite shower. This room has some of the best views in the house as well as its own perfect bathroom. What a treat this suite is!

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
