Snaptrip says

11 The Forge is a well-regarded cottage praised for its cleanliness, modern amenities, and superb location for exploring Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding areas. Guests appreciate the quiet, peaceful village setting and the proximity to local attractions. While some minor maintenance issues and additional homely touches are suggested, the overall sentiment is positive, with guests enjoying their stays and often recommending the property.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property is frequently described as clean and well-kept, with specific mentions of it being 'spotless' and 'immaculate'. However, there were isolated comments about a sticky mess from a bag of vegetables and pans that needed cleaning, slightly affecting the score.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to Hadrian's Wall, and the ease of access to local sites and walking routes. The village's peacefulness and friendly atmosphere are consistently noted as positives.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with a warm and cosy atmosphere. However, some guests mention issues with the softness of the mattress and the lack of a coffee maker, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The cottage is well-furnished with good appliances, but feedback indicates a need for better facilities for drying clothes, more robust window blinds, and clearer recycling instructions. The lack of a wardrobe and coffee-making facilities were also noted.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Location was perfect for walking the Wall for day trips away - to both west and east routes. Short walk from the pub added a handy option too. The one single request I’d add, is that I’d like to have either a washing line or clothes horse to dry clothes. Apart from that - perfect week :)

Ideal holiday home in a lovely area.

  • Lucy

It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. It was far more than simply adequate but not really the 'Sykes 5 Ticks' home that we were expecting - It lacked the finishing touches of a five stars property.
