Hush Cottage is highly praised for its cleanliness, stylish decor, and thoughtful touches, including a generous welcome hamper. Nestled in a vibrant village within the Yorkshire Dales, it offers a cosy, well-equipped retreat with underfloor heating and quality furnishings. While compact, the cottage's charm and the owner's helpfulness contribute to a delightful stay, with the occasional mention of steep stairs and limited space.
Reviewers consistently mention the cottage's exceptional cleanliness, describing it as 'spotless' and 'exceedingly clean'. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to guests' overall positive experiences.
The cottage's location is frequently commended for its quietness, proximity to local amenities, and abundance of nearby walks. Its setting in the Yorkshire Dales - North, close to Barnard Castle, is appreciated for both relaxation and exploration.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, highlighting the cosy atmosphere, quality bed linen, and the warmth provided by features like the lovely fire and underfloor heating. However, a few guests noted the property can feel cramped, which slightly impacts the comfort score.
Facilities are generally well-received, with mentions of a fully kitted kitchen and high-quality soft furnishings. However, some guests noted the absence of a washing machine and outdoor seating, and one experience of cramped kitchen space, leading to a slightly lower score.
The owner's thoughtfulness is evident in the detailed information provided, the explicit handbook, and the welcome hamper that exceeded expectations. While these gifts are warmly appreciated, it is politely noted that such offerings are subject to change and not guaranteed.

Alison, the owner was very obliging, and supplied a very generous welcoming basket of goodies. Our only reservations as an elderly couple was that the stairs were quite steep, and vehicle access difficult. A lovely, cosy cottage.
