Nestled into the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick and only a short distance from local amenities and attractions, Dorothy Foster Court is a beautiful 17th century cottage housing a ground-floor apartment ideal for a couple’s getaway to Northumberland. Be charmed by the beautiful brick and sandstone exterior of this quaint cottage, enjoying the historic feel as you unpack and make yourself at home in a light and airy open-plan living area. A traditional bare stone wall and fireplace now houses a TV and, along with a wonderful wooden roof beam, continues the heritage in a space outfitted with contemporary décor, including a wonderful sitting area, a stylish dining table and a fantastic kitchen fitted with everything you will need to cook a romantic meal for two. This pretty little apartment sports a twin bedroom overlooking the rear courtyard and there is a shower room for your refreshment. Outside, the courtyard enjoys a backdrop of 17th century cottages. Alnwick is a fantastic location with so much to offer guests, beginning with a high street teeming with independent shops, restaurants and pubs, and there is also a local golf course, gardens, and bookshop café for you to enjoy. Take a riverside walk through woodlands and countryside or visit the well-known Alnwick castle and find out more about the local area. If you wish to spend the day at the beach, then head over to Alnmouth, where you can enjoy scenic seaside walks and watersports. Make a couple’s holiday to remember with a stay at the quaint Dorothy Foster Court.
The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Cose to the castle and the high street and in easy walking distance of other attractions. Excellent pub/restaurant within 1/4 of a mile (the Dirty Bottles) well worth a visit. This was our second visit this year and won't be our last. Can highly recommend this accommodation.
