Hardys House in Alnwick is generally praised for its cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and excellent location. Guests appreciate the property's proximity to local amenities and its well-equipped nature, making it a cosy base for exploring Northumberland. While some guests mention minor issues with maintenance and parking, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
The majority of guests found Hardys House to be very clean, with several positive comments on its tidiness. One review mentioned a mouldy shower curtain and an unclean courtyard, but this seems to be an isolated complaint.
The location is highly praised for being central and convenient, with easy access to Alnwick's attractions and nearby beaches. The quiet yet central location is a recurring positive theme in the reviews.
Guests generally find the property comfortable, with comfy beds and a homely feel. However, some guests noted that the sofas could be more comfortable and the absence of a TV in the bedroom was disappointing for some.
The property is described as well-equipped and cosy, with a new heating system mentioned. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as heating problems, bathroom fixtures needing attention, and a need for modernisation.
There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the owner, so it is not possible to provide a score for thoughtfulness. However, the owner's attentiveness to issues is noted.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

The only issue we had is with the dishwasher. The top drawer is broken (one of the wheels had previously fallen off). The washing process then failed and some of the dishes were left dirty in the cupboard when we arrived

We did have a problem with the central heating but the owner advised us what to do. The only real problem was parking- there is an allocated parking space but this is really small and although we don't have a big car - a Picasso - we wouldn't use the space. We did however were able to find a place in the street tho it did make u a bit anxious about getting back. There was a long stay car park nearby which we didn't investigate- if you need a permit for this would be a help if one provided. Otherwise house fine and we had a good break
