Guests say

High Hemmel House in Northumberland receives high praise for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and excellent on-site facilities including a swimming pool and hot tub. Guests appreciate the comfortable accommodations and the property's proximity to beaches and local attractions. While there are some minor criticisms regarding bedding and Wi-Fi, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests planning to return.

Guests consistently mention the cleanliness of the property, with reports of it being immaculate and well-maintained. The high standard of cleaning, especially in the pool and hot tub areas, contributes to the positive experiences. However, a few minor comments about worn towels and bedding slightly affect the score.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, proximity to beaches, and local amenities like pubs and shops. The area is described as beautiful and perfect for exploring Northumberland. The ease of access to nearby attractions and the peaceful setting are frequently mentioned.

The property is described as warm, comfortable, and well-equipped, with plenty of space for families and groups. Comfortable beds and storage space are noted, although there are some comments about the quality of bedding and the layout of one bedroom affecting the overall comfort for some guests.

Facilities like the swimming pool, hot tub, and play area are major highlights for guests. However, there are remarks about the lack of a games room, despite it being listed, and some issues with Wi-Fi connectivity. The allocated pool times and maintenance of some facilities are also points of contention.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches such as welcome packs and the provision of dressing gowns, which enhance their stay. It's important to note that while these gestures are well-received, they may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

The village of Embleton can be traced back to beyond medieval times and during the Wars of the Roses, it suffered much from the ravages of Scottish invaders. Today, ancient castles and ruins stand testament to Embleton's turbulent past; the Church of Holy Trinity is a late-Norman church, dating from the 12th century, later to be restored in Victorian times. Viewed from the sea, the undulating whinstone ridge that shelters much of the village from east winds, resembles a caterpillar, hence the old name 'Emeldune', meaning the hill of the caterpillar. The rolling countryside means that golfers can enjoy a good 18-hole links golf course that overlooks the beautiful Embleton Bay. Recently launched is the Embleton Heritage Trails Project, consisting of six trails, ranging from a short walk around the village, to a longer six mile route, following the spectacular coastline and inland into the tranquil countryside.

A fitted sheet on one of the twin beds was too small and kept springing off. Otherwise the property was great and we had a lovely time!!

Nothing to fault at all. Owners thought of so much and so many lovely touches. Swimming pool was beautiful. Hot tub and outdoor area was lovely with the picnic tables. Travel cot and high chair already there when we arrived. First class for me and my family. I couldn’t fault it!!
