Grey Hens is a true delight, nestled in the Coquet Valley in a balmy, romantic spot between Rothbury and Felton. Just for two, Grey Hens is incredibly stylish yet super-cosy, providing an oasis of calm amongst the blissful gardens and serene countryside.
Renovated by local artist, Marie Stansby, the converted barn mirrors her style of classic and modern, embracing the rugged Coquet valley landscape with all the soft touches you crave in a quiet retreat. The gardens are separated into ‘rooms’ giving you an element of privacy whilst you discover the vegetable patches, the pond garden and the rockery.
Grey Hens is divine in summer of course, but just as dreamy in the winter. With the wood burning stove, roll-top bath and fluffy bathrobes, you’ll enjoy guilt-free lazy mornings and dozing in front of the fire.
Secretly buried away from the hustle and bustle, you can reach Rothbury in the car in less than 10 minutes, Alnwick in 20 minutes and the nearest beach (Warkworth) in 30 minutes. Sounds like the best of both worlds. 2 dogs welcome to.

Stayed at Grey Hens and it was absolutely fantastic. The accommodation was outstanding, the location was great, amenities were fantastic and we received a very warm welcome. We were treated to a fantastic welcome basket as well as homemade sourdough bread and a beautiful green tea cake. The cottage was warm, modern, and spotlessly clean and we even had dressing gowns and slippers provided. Coquet Cottages are outstanding, and everything was done professionally and friendly. If only everywhere was the same. Keep up the good work and thank you.

Absolutely fantastic and one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. Everything was of a high standard, there was everything we needed and the little extras provided were delicious. The comfort, the standard of decoration, the bedding, the high-quality equipment, the toiletries. Sorry, I couldn’t find just one thing I liked best!
