From the middle of the 18th century, when it became fashionable in England to visit the coast in the summer to enhance wellbeing, Blackpool has enjoyed popularity as a holiday destination. Even today, donkey rides, fish-and-chip shops, and theatres can be found along Blackpool's seven-mile stretch of sandy beach and promenade. Other notable sites include the Blackpool Tower, the Blackpool Illuminations, the Pleasure Beach, Sandcastle Water Park, the Winter Gardens, and the Blackpool Zoo. You may also ride the UK's sole remaining first-generation tramway.
