About this property

Dairy Cottage is a delightful character property located in Newby, just seven miles south of Penrith between the Lake District and the North Pennines. This stone building retains many original features befitting a property of its age and offers comfortable accommodation for a couple or a small family looking to holiday near the Lake District. The ground floor opens into a comfortable sitting area, with a feature inglenook fireplace housing an electric wood burner-effect fire. Wooden seating adorns the bay window and the beamed ceilings add to the warm feel of this cosy property. The exposed stone walls are a feature of the ground floor, including the wood-effect finished kitchen that includes a small dining set. Upstairs offers a charming double bedroom and a twin bedroom with a sloping wooden ceiling. To the rear of the cottage, a charming sun trap awaits in the enclosed stoned garden area with a barbecue, furniture and space for two cars. Newby is a tiny hamlet, offering the cottage a peaceful location. However, a two minute drive is all that is needed to reach the amenities of nearby Morland and the beauty of Morland Beck.

Further afield is the busy market town of Penrith, still only a seven mile trip north from Dairy Cottage. The cottage is ideally positioned to explore the Lake District to the west, with Lowther Gardens only fifteen minutes away. To the north-east, the might of Cross Fell beckons from the North Pennines. Located ideally near Penrith between two areas of stunning natural beauty, Dairy Cottage offers a peaceful retreat for a small family or couple at any time of the year.

The charming old village of Newby sits in a secluded location in the Eden Valley, between the northern Pennines and the Lake District. Newby, is surrounded by lovely rolling landscapes. Why not visit the Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith, or nearby Lowther Castle Gardens and Bird of Prey Centre? Ullswater, with frequent cruises from Pooley Bridge, is eight miles away or you may like to visit Appleby, famous for its annual horse fair and a stop on the famous Settle-Carlisle railway. Absolutely everything about this cottage worked for us, from the ample parking space right through to the tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished interior. Dairy cottage is one of those rare finds that has more of a home vibe about it than "just" a holiday let. We are looking forward to returning

Also, the hot water comes on to heat at night when you’ve gone to bed. We had to turn it off so we could get to sleep but then we had no hot water.

Spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds and sofas. Lovely welcoming touches. Amazingly well equipped. The location was ideal for us. We walked in the Lake District, Eden valley and Northumberland too. We will definitely recommend it to friends and family.
